Om mitt bibliotek
Most of the books included in my catalogue are ones I own or have read on loan from others or the library since starting on LibraryThing. Those in the "Read but Unowned" collection are ones I have read but no longer have in my possession. I am only entering reviews for books I've read since joining LT. As for my rating system:

5 stars = I connected with this book in a special way. It may not be perfect, but it was perfect for me.
4.5 = A great read, among my favorites of the year.
4 = A good read; truly enjoyable and/or worthy.
3.5 = Pretty good, with a few things done very well.
3 = I don't hate myself for reading this.
2.5 = Average, and life is too short to read average works.
2 = A bit below average. A waste of time.

Anything worse I probably didn't finish and so wouldn't get a rating.

However, all this is, of course, very subjective, and some of the ratings are based on my memories of the book rather than a recent reading of it. And my "favorites" (4 and 5 star books) range from 19th century literature to cheesy contemporary romance - if it served me well in some way(opened a whole new world to me, offered me escape, or comforted me during heartbreak for instance), it gets a high rating.
Om mig
I am married with no children (and no plans for any!). I was a history and political science major in college, but I read mostly fiction - anything from political thrillers to historical fiction to popular fiction to acknowledged classics. My non-fiction reading tends toward travel, current events, sociology, history, and geopolitical and cultural studies.
