Om mitt bibliotek
In 2008, I put my stuff in storage in NW Arkansas, a place I did not intend ever to live, having gotten a vile tick-borne illness while here storing. However I am recently arrived here, gradually sorting out 70 or so boxes of books while scouting where to go/call home. Some of these boxes supported the four corners of my bed in my miniscule studio in Cambridge and served as table and chair awhile, as well. Others went to the sidewalk on Bigelow St sporting a free sign (book stores offered so little, preferred to give away.) Others were driven x-country in my ancient Isuzu, heaved up 4 flights of stairs to shared office, but office assignment changed so had to haul down and up into colleague's attic (4 more flights) then back down into new office then into apartment. This is how I wrecked my back and why I am keeping only the unique or dearly loved.

I have really old, really rare books--and if it's hard to find link to post to my library, I'll post a different edition or not at all. Ditto for the really odd, wonderful books gleaned from library sales and thrift stores. I have a trove of feminist titles, of philosophy, of Hindu and Kashmiri Shaivism, fiction. Some poetry, and a lot of alternative/complementary health: chinese med, accupunture/pressure, ayurveda, herbal/energy medicine, homeopathy and so on. I gather duplicates of books I love and enjoy figuring who might also love them. Many of my best books have just-so/acquisition tales (attached), my discovery of Tove Jansson in 1982 Annapolis or Tin-Tin in Istanbul in 1976. Good stories, though mebbe of interest to no one but me. But am in retrospective mode, so I'll annotate my library list as much as review/evaluate. Having repacked the results of 2 months of triage already, some will escape me. But lots of boxes await.
Om mig
I regret adding that second 'e' to my user name; was prompted by remembering "raree show" in a Tove Jansson book read decades ago. I surmise. And wonder: what izzit? Also by susceptibilty to symmetry which is sort of to say rhyme. (I am a poet and sometime viz artist. I have published 8 poetry collections. I exited academia (where sometime a thousand twangling instruments did hum about my ears, i.e. taught in various English Depts, womenstudies, art school) to live artfully if nomadically below the poverty level. I inhale novels and peruse antique science books, herbals/gardening books because I am an optimist and believe I will have a garden again (and cat). After enjoying all I could being the first woman hired under affirmative action in paper mill (1976 or so), graduated at 28 from St. John's College (the great books outfit, Santa Fe/Annapolis, hence my thousands of books--before., I'd read 7. Ever. I don't count Nancy Drews as reading; I just liked how they looked lined up. I don't sleep, so have lots of time to read--and though years of paying storage on them began to seem silly, now it's thank god for the boxes: the nearest library greets the pilgrim with shelves of "Christian Fiction."

The link to my rawther intermittent blog features a sample from an old science text. Most entries feature a book or the words comprising.
