Om mitt bibliotek
My library is a list of books on my bookshelf (dictionaries have not been listed yet), so there's a bit of everything there. mari_reads is my reading catalogue, listing books I have read since 1994.

In the recent years, new additions to the shelves have been mostly English-language fiction and books to do with cultural history.

Preparing for a move to the UK I tried to reduce the number of books on my shelves from late 2006 onwards, and succeeded in going from over 500 books in January 2007 to about 300 in September. The large majority of those books are currently in storage (the Koivu collection). Since September 2007, the number of books has gone up a little, thanks to using up the BookMooch points I accumulated in the getting-rid process, and visits to bookshops. Some books do not stay in my catalogue for very long as I tend to list some of the books I read on BookMooch once I've finished with them.

About reviews: I keep thinking I'd like write reviews for as many of my books as possible, however it seems I don't actually get round to it that often. Furthermore, there's the fact that I have two catalogues but I don't want to duplicate reviews for books in both and I'm not sure which catalogue would be better for the purpose. As some books don't stay in my actual collection for very long, it would make sense to keep reviews in mari_reads - but I tend to view this account (queen_ypolita) as my primary LT account, so I would rather have the reviews here. So what I think I will do from now (March 2008) on is as follows: I initially write reviews for books I own in this catalogue, if/when I remove books I will move the reviews to mari_reads. For library books and other books I don't own, reviews will be in mari_reads.
Om mig
More often than not, there's a book in my handbag. I've been an avid reader ever since I learnt to read, libraries were my favourite places when I was growing up and these days I love nothing more than browsing books in a bookshop.

I like having a full bookshelf - you never know when you want to re-read something and it's lovely to have lots of unread books to give some choice when you're looking for your next book. Over the past couple of years I've got better at passing on books once I've finished with them if it seems unlikely I'd ever get back to them.
