Om migA book collector and ephemera collector. The ephemera is primarily of railroad and Chester County PA. I'm retired, help with several horticultural groups and am volunteer curator of the Christian Sanderson Museum in Chadds Ford, PA

Om mitt bibliotekI'm just getting ready to add items into this system. I have about 6000 items not counting the new material I have purchased recently and the 12 boxes of material I haven't processed yet! Oh well. . . .

Here is how I use the star system. I dreamed it up when I first started and it still works:

Blank, haven't read it or processed it.
1/2 star - get rid of it ASAP. Need the room!
1 star - don't waste your time.
2 star - it has information relative to my collection but I couldn't finish it.
3 star - have read, has information and worth retaining.
4 star - better than your average read.
5 star - great read and I might even want to read it again.

31 March 2020: I think it's appropriate to post that I am spending a LOT of time in my library (separate building) and can now walk through all the aisles without smashing my shins.

The "Great Book Discovery" is finding all kinds of goodies that I forgot I had purchased, been given or swapped for as they haven't been cataloged (To save you some time wondering, yes I did buy some duplicates, the sign of a true book collector in my humble opinion). All this staying at home is helping here as well as improving the organization.

Now if I could just find a way to put more shelves in. . . As my daughter, the librarian, would say, "Dadu, you need to do more weeding."

12 October 2020: For those of you who care, I'm finally getting around to moving books stored in boxes (LOTS of boxes) into the library. I performed significant weeding, gave them to a book barn, found a way to wedge another bookcase into an area of the library and now I'm bringing boxed material in and shelving it. Good news is that this material is all indexed and all I will be doing is changing the location. That doesn't count the possibility of a mistake indexing but none of us do that (and does a bear do "it" in the woods?).
