This is just for the Alanna books, and any other books Tamora Pierce wrote!

My favorite series so far is the Alanna series, without a doubt! It's so cool, especially with all the swordplay and action. I love the idea of a quartet, it's so cool. My fav book in the series is Lioness Rampant! So much action, and Jon finally became king. I also loved Thayet, she was so cool and laid back. Buri was awesome too.

The Alanna series is my favourite, but the Trickster books are a pretty close second. If I had read them all at the same time, I think the Trickster ones might even be in the lead now. I like knowing the whole history of lots of the minor characters (like Aly's mother and father), and Aly is just fun.

Has anybody else finished the new Beka Cooper?
I enjoyed it (there's even a knight!).
I loved the very beginning chapter where we get to see George as a little boy. He was a charmer even then!

I thought it was okay. I wasn't all that impressed. The journal style was not particularly effective - it read like a regular first-person novel, just divided by day. Also, I thought there was too much going on, and too many different characters - the overall feel reminded me of the Circle books, which are genenrally like that, too many plotlines and people at once to really fill anything out.

There were things I liked about it, of course; Beka was an interesting character, Pounce was pretty hilarious (the kittens!!) and so on.

she has an interesting rant up on her livejournal at the moment: http://tammy212.livejournal.com/6091.html

I have to agree with her that it's a pity that people continuously pidgeonhole other people

The Beka Cooper books are going to be some of the best of Tamora Pierce's once they're all done. I can't wait for the next book, it's so good!
