Starting a new book in the morning and hoping I can get a nudge by then. I'll try to do the digital photo next time, but for now, just a list...

The Handmaid's Tale
Things Fall Apart
Where Angels Fear to Tread
The March
Falling Angels

I have heard good things about "Things Fall Apart." It was recommended in one of the Great Courses that I took recently.

Cool. What is a Great Course?

It's a series of university courses on all kinds of subjects, recorded as audio CDs. This book was recommended by the professor who taught "The Rise and Fall of the British Empire." One of the lectures was about literature from various parts of the British Empire.

They are really expensive, but at least once every year, every single course goes on sale very deeply discounted, so I wait until the one I want goes on sale and nab it.

Second The Handmaid's Tale. I read it for the first time this year... It is a fascinating book that will stick with you. Atwood actually made a rule with herself when writing the book that she would not include anything that women had not been subject to at some point already.. A great read.

I haven't read any of those yet, but can I give an educated guess nudge instead?

You see, I've been wanting to read The Handmaid's Tale and Where Angels Fear to Tread for awhile, having read other Atwood and Forster books and enjoyed them. But I haven't been able to find copies of these ones where I live. *sigh* The downsides of living in a small town...

>8 girlfromshangrila:
I'm in Canada so I practically trip over secondhand copies of The Handmaid's Tale. I probably even have a duplicate in one of the many boxes in the basement. If you feel comfortable leaving me a private message with your address, I'd be happy to send you a copy.

Another nudge for Things Fall Apart.

Thanks all! Since asking for the nudge, I've finished both Things Fall Apart and The Handmaid's Tale. Then I 'accidentally' went to the bookstore and another dozen books fell into my basket. Isn't that the strangest thing? Lucky for me they have a great clearance selection and I didn't pay more than a dollar for any of them! Unluckily, it just makes that what's next decision even harder!!

Fashionably late to the party as ever - you could try Where Angels Fear to Tread next. The best I can say about it is that it's typical Forster and he can do no wrong.
