I'm creaking along, at around 6k now. NaNo stats tell me that, at this rate, I'll reach my goal sometime in January 2012.

Where's that caffiene, gilroy? I'll take it by IV. lol

At 16,000 words, I'm able to make 'par' most days and was able to make a push last weekend. my work schedule tells me there's rocks ahead though...

11,000+ and feeling pretty good. I have a three day weekend coming up and on Saturday I'm hosting a write-in here in the library for the kids. I also have the whole week of Thanksgiving off (three days are furlough, e.g. unpaid, days) to catch up and hopefully reach the goal.

Taking caffeine in coffee form, tea form, and chocolate form - not intravenous yet.

Yeah. Uh huh, uh huh!

^7 Maybe you should cut down a little on the caffeine, mamzel. I can feel your nerves jittering from here. lol

OTOH, you do have double the word count I have, so maybe I should up my intake. ;-P

ETA have a great write-in on Saturday!

Way to go for everyone pressing ahead. Glad to see the strength of the group this year!

*cheeeeers everyone!!*

Got a tad bit past 17k last night, I've written a bit today but I don't check my wordcount until I'm done for the day.

And my characters are annoying me. Specifically, how much I've come to *love* writing Danielle, and I'm not really getting as much of a bond with Sam, even though Sam is the MC and it's from her point of view...

But I can't help but love Danielle, especially when she screams insults at Sam and then immediately turns to someone else to defend Sam. And I think I'm actually getting more into her head about this whole relationship, which I've never actually done in any of my other stories... Not with her type of character.

Anyone want to post their favorite sentence/part so far?

Tears turned into sobs and I couldn’t speak at all, and at that point it would have made my freakin’ night if Danielle would’ve hit me for crying. But she didn’t, she just kept staring at me with that completely unfamiliar mixture of emotions in her eyes that was so *not* like her, which only made me even more upset.
(Because I think that sums up their relationship perfectly)

no favorite sentences so far, i'm afraid that looking back will make me want to cringe and edit. so far enjoying my story, but week 2 has been much more difficult than week 1...

I've got a couple of favorite scenes but no sentence I remember well enough to call a favorite. Week 2 is always harder. I'm generally struggling to deal with situations I've written my guys into by then, and having to back track to look for lost threads I need to address.

I'm at 33K and change, about 2/3 of the way to the NaNo goal. How far along in the book I am, I've no idea!

*crap crap crap crap crap cra...* Oh, sorry, I didn't realize you were standing there. *slouches off to brood in the corner*

I am sitting in the library with two teen NaNoers (so far) noshing on doughnuts and coffee, procrastinating a bit before diving into my novel. I had to enter a book I finished this morning, Swamplandia, stop by and say hi.

I hit 24k last night, and today I'm declaring a "NaNo Denial" day for myself. It's been emotional and cry-y all around today, personally, so I'm not worrying about wordcount or keeping pace right now. I'm writing a bit, but basically just outlining, because I've run out of scene-ideas.

Heather, kill somebody. It always works for me!

Congrats Heather!

I finally broke the 10k barrier (and I do mean barrier). Felt almost euphoric, until I remembered I should be at 25k by the end of Tuesday.

I'm getting ready to kill somebody, majkia. In fact, I just wrote in a new character just so I could waste him. Bloodthirsty of me, huh?

I swore Danielle wasn't going to be a murderer, but I can totally see it going that way right now... But no. Possibly an "accidental" house-fire or something, concerning her horrid-abusive ex....

Took a night off Friday because I was utterly exhausted. I'm wa-a-ay behind, but had written at least one sentence even on my most terrible days until then. Not going to be a Week 2 quitter, me!

>16 majkia:. Since this is, after all, a civil war story, lots of people die. I can't figure out why I can't get around to writing them in yet. Maybe partly because nobody will give a rabid rat patooty if they do, because they are just names on a page at this point, and if even I don't know and love them yet how can I write them out in a way that matters?

Thanks for letting me think that one out, out loud. I think I'll go back to writing about sex. . .

So after I wrote the above (#17) last night, I went to bed and thought about how the killing (of the new tertiary character) was going to take place and had a brainstorm about another character (secondary) being injured to almost the point of death in the same incident. Then it occured to me that I better figure out WHY they were being killed & injured before I try to figure out how.

*note to self: start planning in July next year AND MAKE AN OUTLINE!*

Storeetllr, I had an outline, emphasis on HAD. I blew that to pieces last night....

So it's doomed if you do and doomed if you don't, huh? *sigh* lol

I have outlines. I've finished one novel that stuck mostly to it. The second novel is leaping in and out of it, but I expect them to work that way. Guideposts and reminders of events I want to happen to reach the goal, but not set in stone plots.

I'm having a great time, too!

My characters wont behave! Wah! And a whole new one just meandered out of the woodwork - what am I supposed to do with him? Aghhhh.

I'm just glad I'm staying on the line - just! Its a struggle cos life is far too full, but there's no way I'm quitting now. Roll on week three. I think I may need to kill someone soon off soon though... too many characters.

Topped 16,000 after writing most of the day yesterday. I made a bad mistake of downloading a book to the Kindle last night that I couldn't not finish. The kids did well. We were only mildly distracted by busloads of marching bands in the parking lot for the annual Battle of the Bands. Boys playing with a football in the back, girls throwing flags in the air in the front. I think we had the same thing happening last year.

Ah, well...back to work!

Write on, everyone!

Yesterday, rewarded myself with a trip to AFI Silver Theater, and saw Clash of the Wolves, a Rin Tin Tin silent movie, also listened to Susan Orlean speak about her book: Rin Tin Tin: The Life and the Legend

Took a breather today too after hitting word count, and dropped off a book to the library at Occupy DC :)

Novel coming along, and surprising me with each turn.

Oh, thanks for the reminder NT. I have a couple of books I've been meaning to drop off at Occupy L.A.

Went to a write-in this morning and managed about 1100 words in just over an hour. Not bad. If I'd gotten there on time, I might have done 3 times that much. Oh, well, there's always next week.

Back to work. Happy NaNoing!
