Taking a page out of Jim's book, I was sitting here drinking my favorite summer beverage and wondered if you could find a word to rhyme with Squirt.

Well aren't you clever? And so pretty, as well. We really should have coffee one day soon.

How do you have the energy to flirt when it's 104 degrees out there? I don't.

Not flirt

4rodneyvc

You just said that without thinking!

5Citizenjoyce

Don't we all just blurt things out on occasion, or usually?

Not blurt, flirt

I love Squirt too, but haven't had it for years. I'm wondering if it could be used in the creation of the last course for a meal. It would be delicious and very cooling in the heat.

It's been so hot and humid this month that I want to just lie around unmoving.

Could it be a "Residence Mongol"?
(Guessing this on the sole
Grounds of having heard about such,
Not having seen it, much
As I'd like to visit Central or East
Asia) Give the guess a try at least.

6- I suppose Squirt could be used as a dessert, maybe with a scoop or 2 of ice cream? Sounds lovely, but not Crambo.
7- Inert and summer - 2 words that go together perfectly - but not Crambo.
8- Could you be thinking of a yurt? Contestants had to design them on Design Star last week and did a lovely job, but where's the bathroom? No yurts for Crambo.

Not blurt, dessert, flirt, inert, yurt

So you reject my flirtatious advances. I might have to use this short-handled riding whip.

//If you still consider that flirting, I really don't want to know!//

These opposites have an odd claim
That's secret, yet worthy of fame.
A "c" at the start
Lets us tell them apart,
For other than that, they're the same.

mini, maxi, or pencil?

10- Mox Mox in Streets of Laredo has a penchant for quirting that is anything but flirtatious.
11- ???
12- In my youth we called them straight skirts. The pencil thing seems kind of weird to me.
Not: blurt, dessert, flirt, inert, quirt, skirt, yurt

Re #11: These adjectives are exact antonyms; one is formed by adding "c" to the beginning of the other. One word is secret, but the other is generally known.

17Jim53

Like Buck, I have two antonyms in mind, but they differ by more than the first letter. I'm eager to share them with everyone, but I'm too shy.

11- Sometimes I think I am covertly verbally challenged, but the deficiency gets more overt daily. Not Crambo, however.
14- See above, I also can be quite curt, but Crambo isn't
15- And if #14 hurt you, I apologize, but Crambo doesn't
17- I guess we're all a mixture of introvert and extrovert, except Crambo
18- I'm alert to your alert, but Crambo remains dozing

Not: alert, blurt, covert, curt, dessert, extrovert, flirt, hurt, inert, introvert, overt, quirt, skirt, yurt

During ninth grade, I went from being the shortest boy in my class to the tallest.

21Citizenjoyce

What a lucky growth spurt, Jim. Studies have shown that increased male height is a predictor of success. Can I have a few of your Microsoft shares? Alas, Crambo is not impressed.

Not: alert, blurt, covert, curt, dessert, extrovert, flirt, hurt, inert, introvert, overt, quirt, skirt, spurt, yurt

Danone, Activia, Yoplait et al?

23Citizenjoyce

But Greek's the word these days. Mix yogurt with fresh fruit and jalapenos it makes a great smoothie, unfortunately not Crambo.

Not: alert, blurt, covert, curt, dessert, extrovert, flirt, hurt, inert, introvert, overt, quirt, skirt, spurt, yogurt, yurt

24Jim53

Sounds as if you're a very knowledgeable person when it comes to yogurt.

Australians all let us rejoice,
For we are young and free;
We’ve golden soil and wealth for toil;
Our home is, er, surrounded, by sea.

Back in simpler times, cute and vivacious cheerleader-type girls were often called this. So was a popular brand of shampoo.

27Citizenjoyce

24- I'm no expert on yogurt, just a delighted ingestor thereof.
25- The only Australian anthem I know is Waltzing Matilda and like it very much. Girt? Now really, would one use that in 21st century communication, you poet you?
26- I used to use Pert, but Crambo never did.

Not: alert, blurt, covert, curt, dessert, expert, extrovert, flirt, girt, hurt, inert, introvert, overt, pert, quirt, skirt, spurt, yogurt, yurt

28jpyvr

One of these equals a difference of 1% in the ratio of differing genotypes (or so I've been told, but I flunked embryology).

29Citizenjoyce

Not only is Crambo not sturt; I guarantee you that I will not be going into such an esoteric field to find my word. However, that whole search could result in my word.

Not: alert, blurt, covert, curt, dessert, expert, extrovert, flirt, girt, hurt, inert, introvert, overt, pert, quirt, skirt, spurt, sturt, yogurt, yurt

31Citizenjoyce

I know it's too hot to exert yourself, Jim, but turn on the air conditioner and give it a try.

32-33 The dirt in the desert must be singing one's feet right about now.
34 You Googled sturt and got Crambo? Oh, Google, you jokester you. It all can be very confusing.

Not: alert, blurt, covert, curt, desert, dessert, dirt, exert, expert, extrovert, flirt, girt, hurt, inert, introvert, overt, pert, quirt, skirt, spurt, sturt, yogurt, yurt

We used a large pipe to redirect the flow of the stream so that we could put a road over it. (two guesses)

36- Living in a flood zone, I'm very familiar with the culverts that have been placed to divert water; though I kind of miss the good ol' days when I could call off work every time it rained because I couldn't leave my house.
37- Rodney, you're very wrong but surprisingly very close. Crambo has no plans to attend a concert any time soon, but we are going to see Wicked.

Compounded of the "Not" Listʻs num -
-ber 15 and a(how come
people donʻt realize how great
A part of earth is this mate
Of land and air?): indeed
The part "seized upon with greed"
As Lucretius reminds us: take heed,
And realize how, territorial-
-y speaking, dominant since time immemorial
The __ __ __ is, which, (can be with parti-
ciple __ __ __ __ combined),
comprises what one will find
To be most of Earthʻs surface

--Is this guess a minus or a plus?

a heraldic green?

41Citizenjoyce
aug 9, 2012, 12:04 am

We'll start with what I do know
40- not vert, but I do love green
Now for what I can't figure out
39- Oh dear, Rodney. It looks like you refer to hurt #15 and sea, but I don't see how they combine to anything applicable.

I'm thinking Crambo is what you have done to me.

Not: alert, blurt, concert, covert, culvert, curt, desert, dessert, dirt, divert, exert, expert, extrovert, flirt, girt, hurt, inert, introvert, overt, pert, quirt, skirt, spurt, sturt, vert, yogurt, yurt

"I'm going out for the evening"
"To dat play?"
"No, to ..."

44Citizenjoyce

Yes! Roland did completely disconcert me which was just what Crambo wanted to happen. Jim wins, and I am still disconcerted by Roland.

39, discussed again in 41-42, was "seagirt".

(Don't know if anyone outside of Homeric
translators has ever used the word.)

46Jim53

Well, at least it wasn't winedarkseagirt.

New game on these shores.

47Citizenjoyce

Yup, I have to say, I probably would never have come up with seagirt. What a perfect way to get to disconcert, Roland.
