I can't help myself but lately I've been so annoyed with some heroines. The type with leather pants who fights alot and is supercool, sexy and some kind of warrior, protector, murderer or out for some bloody revenge.
I would love some recommendations on more "normal" heroins series or novels. Maybe historical supernatural, paranormal..?
Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs, another subtle badass and excellent series.
KATE DANIELS by Ilona Andrews - she is the queen of badass and will continue to put all other heroines to shame.
These are the kind of heroines that earn the title, no overly sexy acts of stupidy here. just pure awesome.
The Mercy Thompson books are excellent too, although I haven't gotten into the companion Alpha and Omega series, but even though they're the same universe the two series don't have to be read together.
Need we say, both series (and especially "The Hollows") should be read in strict order of publication.
I'm also hoping Cherie Priest continued with her Cheshire Red series, but she may be letting it slide in favor of some of her more popular steampunk. I got introduced to Priest through her Eden Moore series, but I wouldn't necessarily call Eden "kick ass."
I love the Mercy Thompson series. I think her independence and brains make her badass. She knows she's not the biggest dog in the fight, so to speak, so she has to be the smartest and make bigger friends.
This is one of my all-time favorite books and a lot of what I love is the non-kick-assness of the heroine.
