The House of Arden by Edith Nesbit was the first book I ever read that contained time-travels. I was around ten, and the book served as a starting point for several interests. The history of Great Britain, for example, and costume history. But also an interest for novels with time-travels.

Though it's a book labelled for children, I still love it, and I think it's well worth reading, even if you are an adult. It's sequel Harding's Luck is very good as well.
