(I'm new to this group, so please forgive me if I am breaking some rule or other)

We (a colleague and I, based at the University in Trondheim, NTNU) are organising a reading of Martin Chuzzlewit, precisely 170 years after the original publication. As you will know, Dickens published this novel in monthly parts between January 1843 and July 1844. We will be reading it in true time, just as the original readers would have. There will be no cheating by looking ahead.

If you want to join us, send me your e-mail address and I will add you to the list. You will then get a rather large pdf (the first one will be 19mb) in your inbox every month, containing a facsimile of the original monthly parts, complete with the nutty Victorian advertisements and the green wrappers.

We are starting this Tuesday, but will accept stragglers.

Come on, you know you want to.

Thanks Camilla, this is a really good idea! I love Dickens but i never thought of reading him as the installments originally appeared over time. Sign me up; I'm ready to start on Tuesday.

Wonderful! Could you private message me the e-mail address you want it sent to, so I can add you to the list?
