Hello: I just joined your group recently. I'm checking to see if anyone has an interest in ancient Chinese bronzes. In the meantime, I look forward to watching your discussions. I can see there is a lot to learn here. YangGuy

I'm interested in bronzes. I've been reading the Cambridge Ancient China. Our discussions have been few and far between since the Fogies left the group.

Belleyang: I'm sorry to hear that the Fogies left the group. I saw that they made many contributions to discussion. I'm interested in bronzes for several reasons: technical skill in metallurgy, artistic beauty, and the characters that are inscribed. My first introduction to China was the movie Marco Polo in 1962, at the age of eight, seen at a drive-in theater in eastern Oregon. It starred Rory Calhoun as Marco, and now I know it wasn't historically accurate, but it drew me into a foreign land and people. Several Chinatowns on the west coast also piqued my curiosity. When our youngest son, Ben, was born in 1992, I started studying the Chinese characters. I find them to be fascinating.

I know Liao, a member of this group, is quite knowledgeable on this subject. I hope he drops in. Yangguy, stay tuned. I have had to leave my Ancient China books but will hopefully come back to it soon!
