I've spent the last few days snooping around other LibraryThing Groups; and I have noticed that many many of them have very nice photo/artwork/ logos on their Group Page.

Unfortunately, I am limited by a very, very s....l....o....w back-country, steam-powered, old fashioned dial-up internet connection. I live out in the remote toolies of the New Mexico badlands.

That means that image searching on the web is very very difficult for me.

So a Graphics Cooperative is needed to search for, suggest, and install a "Spirit Totem" for this Group for our Group Page.

Are there any angels of Broadband, angels of Graphics, angels of group-effort--out there?

Thank you very much, mart1n.

Let's set up a collection of suggested graphics that we can all vote on them later.

Myself, as only one voter, who lives in a rural Hispanic village in Northern New Mexico (USA) would not vote for that graphic. My traditional region is a unique combination of Hispanic/USA culture. And many of my Spanish-speaking neighbors would not find that amusing. Our very rural local Library is computerized; and folks do indeed visit LibraryThing there. So my own vote would be for some other graphic.

But in a vote here I might lose. So let's keep it in the mix.

I'm grateful for your suggestion.

ETA: I've just visited your profile photo. I'm an older fellow with a pony tail too.....:) :)

Fair enough. I was going for the concept of a library on the move. FYI the story is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biblioburro

I see we have a fair few books in common too :-)

Biblioburro sounds real cool--in real life. But Northern New Mexico has very real, very old cultural animosities going back to the American invasion in 1845. This is conquered territory. To locals here that would appear condescending coming from a gringo (me). And the photo would also appear to be a stereotype of a Mexican National (Mexican Immigrant). That is another complex ball of wax; since there are different, and hostile frictions between the centuries-old local Hispanic families and the newly-arrived and impoverished Mexican Immigrants. The local established Hispanics feel that gringos like myself cannot tell the difference between them and Mexican Immigrants. I can. But they are easily offended--for good reasons.

I am certain that a European living South East of London can understand centuries-old cultural (Class) animosities, resentments, and stereotypes.

Imagine how well a perceived Irish stereotype would go over in rural Northern Ireland if it were construed to be coming from an Englishman.

But....lets be friends. I've sent you a friendvite.
