I've only read one of Haruki Murakami's books, 1Q84, and thought it was quite amazing. So what fiction book would a hard-core reader suggest I read next? If it helps, I love science fiction, including dystopia worlds, and fantasy. I've not read much historical fiction, but have enjoyed some good ones that I've read. I really know very little about Murakami. I think one of his books is about clones and I probably would like that one....

I know it's been a couple months since you asked, but two of my favorite Haruki Murakami books are Norwegian Wood and The Wind-up Bird Chronicle. All of his books tend to be pretty surreal. I have to read his books several times as I find myself making new connections or picking up on new subtleties with each reread. The Wind-up Bird Chronicle is probably more similar to 1Q84, but they're both really good! Norwegian Wood is a nostalgic story of loss and burgeoning sexuality, while the Wind-up Bird Chronicle involves a myriad of sub-stories along the main character's search for his wife (and his cat). Have you had time to read another Murakami Book since December? If so, what did you think?
