Hey guys!

As much as I would like to participate in this challenge, I fear I shall be doomed to failure as the 256 TBR books registered by other BCers are shuffled with my massive TBR mountain of 3, 784 tomes (EEP HOW DID THAT HAPPEN I DON'T KNOOOOOWWW!) and I don't know if I can locate, let alone read, all of them by the end of the year. But I shall try, if for no other reason than this book collection is madly out of control!

My goal shall simply be to have fewer books registered by fellow BCers in my TBR mountain by the end of the year. I don't think I'll set a reduction number goal, because the true challenge will be to keep the BCer pile from expanding since I tend to prioritize my review books for my book blog over them. But if I can get the number down to 225 I will be both amazed and very, very happy.

But if I can get the number down to 225

That sounds like a reasonable goal! Good luck with your reading this year. Yeah...being both a Bookcrosser and a LibraryThing member definitely blows our TBR pile to the max. :)

ETA: Remember when you were on my bookray...

I finished that book (you didn't), but I wasn't too crazy about that book either! Here's to better reading this year! :D

Thanks :) I wish I remembered that bookray, but I don't remember anything about the story or the characters at all! I guess I blocked it all out in the years since :-p

This one doesn't really count, but I noticed today that my copy of Behemoth (Bookcrossing link) was marked as "TBR" instead of "PC" so that's one off the TBR list!

>1 k00kaburra: Welcome and good luck on your goal! It seems quite a reasonable one. I'm looking forward to watching your progress.

From what I read here, your MTBR is even worse than mine... but I definitely need to stop buying books. Why don't bookstores ever stop having GREAT books on sale??

I decided to do some weeding of Mt. TBR, and in the process came across several books that had either come home in a bookbox or I was no longer interested in reading. I'll get them moving again soon!

The Dragon of Lonely Island - (Bookcrossing.com)
The Wyvern's Spur - (Bookcrossing.com)
Pillars of Pentegarn - (Bookcrossing.com)
Naked Dragon - (Bookcrossing.com)
Dragonfly in Amber - (Bookcrossing.com)

I guess it's cheating, but it counts towards eliminating the TBR count, right?

I guess it's cheating, but it counts towards eliminating the TBR count, right?

Even if it is, with a TBR pile like yours I think we can make an exception. :)

Good luck!

Hunter x Hunter Vol. 1 - (Bookcrossing.com)

So far, I haven't added to my Bookcrossing TBR list, so that's good. I do have a bookbox or two on the way, though, so I imagine this will change in February.

Good for you that you've not added to your TBR list! Wish I could say the same. Yes, bookboxes are scary that way ....

mar 21, 2014, 7:50pm

Huh. I guess I keep forgetting to update this. As I said, I've been concentrating on TBR books registered by other BookCrossers, but I also had several bookboxes come through in the last two months.

I just double checked and the total TBR books is...256.

So I've made no progress at all since the beginning of the year!

Foiled again by bookboxes!

Yes, but you have 9 more months to go! :)

Indeed, there's still lots of time left in the year. Also, it feels good to work through some of the oldest books, even as we're adding new ones.

As I was updating the journal entry of Fairy Tales & Nightmares on Bookcrossing, I was reminded of this thread and decided to check and see how I was doing.

Looks like I currently have 264 TBR books that were registered by another BCer. How on earth did that go up? I can't remember any bookboxes coming through recently...

I swear, the books are reproducing like rabbits! :-p

I didn't think anyone had more TBRs than me. Glad I have company :-)

I don't have all my books in library thing. But if my spreadsheet can be trusted, I have about 500 books registered by other bookcrossers. However, many of those are romances from bookstogive & others (which I tend to *not count* - hah!)

Ha ha, it's nothing I'm proud of! My goal is to make TBR smaller - or at least keep it from continue to grow unchecked.

aug 8, 2014, 8:47pm

Knocked Twin Spica Vol. 1 off of Mt. TBR today.

aug 26, 2014, 2:08pm

Finished Girls in Trucks a few days back. (Bookcrossing)

Decided I wasn't that interested The Uncommon Reader so I'll be giving that one up, too. Also Pigeons from Hell, which I pretty much took for the title and the epic cover.
