We went on a guided Jane Austen day tour that we loved, and I thought I should mention it here, in case others are interested.
It was through Hidden Britain Tours, http://www.hiddenbritaintours.co.uk/site/home.asp. We took a train from London to Basingstoke Station, where our guide Phil picked us up in his car. Here's our review on Tripadvisor: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g187054-d1178265-r317534012-Hidden_Br...
Finally, here are some photos from it that I posted on my thread (there are multiple posts): http://www.librarything.com/topic/197179#5298086
We had it recommended by my goddaughter and her mother, who also loved it. Stunningly beautiful countryside there, on top of everything else.

Glad you enjoyed it. Jane Austen is perhaps the most English of novelists and would have no doubt wished to have seen the word England and not Britain in the tour title!
