Can I join in?

I was looking for a thread where I can share my new knitting books, but I can't find one so I'm sharing them here. I found a craft ebook sale, so I bought three: Cast On, Bind Off, Circular Knitting Workshop and The Essential Guide to Color Knitting Techniques. Cast On, Bind Off has already proved itself useful in helping me find just the right bind off for a couple of projects. I've got a couple of projects and I'll share them in an established thread.

I have Cast On, Bind Off, too. I haven't done much knitting in many years now, but I know it will come in handy when/if I ever get the knitty bug again!

I'm only a beginning knitter, but I'm curious to know how either of you find that book Cast On, Bind Off. I have trouble following illustrated how-to pictures, so to learn I had a friend show me (and show me, and show me....)

>3 amysisson: I don't have any trouble following the text and pictures, but I've been knitting for 54 years. I'm getting slow and clumsy at it these days, but I keep knitting because it's an important part of my life. I learned from text and pictures so I'm used to following this format. Videos might be easier for some people to follow, but I find it easier to look things up in a book. Someone born a little closer to this century might find it easier to look for a video.

>3 amysisson: I had to learn from a person too, but once I had cast on, knit, and purl down I found I could follow book instructions much more easily. Youtube is definitely a great resource for craft videos though, and if something new isn't clicking from an illustration the videos usually solve though (though I wish there were a slow motion button sometimes!).
