Hello fellow travelers!

Well, I have the book itself on my shelf, and I browse through it making notes and inserting checkmarks. But Cecrow has sorted out the whole list nicely. Is there a clean copy of the list that I can just copy and paste?

You can copy from my threads (though note I removed Harry Potter from the Children's section), I'm not sure if any/everyone else has updated theirs yet with the latest info Cecrow & I dug up, lol.

only 27 of 51?

I'd better get busy.

I've read other Wilde and MacDonald titles and loved them. And I won't waste my time with Dahl; I find him creepy.

Added Alice. I'm not sure I've ever read the original.

The correct title for Beatrix Potter should be The Tale of Peter Rabbit.
EDIT: I copy/pasted to a text file and you have 52 titles. Pilgrim's Progress should be in the Classics section.

The correct breakdown should be:

51 Children's
60 Classics
50 History
50 Memoirs
140 Modern
50 SF
60 Thrillers
40 Travel

That's using the spreadsheet I have, checked against the actual copy of the book I own. But nope, I didn't retype it into LT, got ours here from googling, lol, so we've turned up some discrepancies that we've worked to correct. I've had trouble checking back and forth against my spreadsheet (and the book) because it lists them alphabetically by author, whereas our lists here wound up being alphabetical by title.

Keep Pilgrim's Progress in Classics, delete from Children's. Also, you have 61 here. Delete "Poetry and Tales, Edgar Allan Poe"; you only need "Tales of the Grotesque and Arabesque".

I've always loved lists like this. I've got a file somewhere with various lists. Ha!

Describes me too, lol. I'm sorry we're making a mess of your topic here, trying to iron this list out for you. Maybe you'll want to start a new one after it's ship-shape. I wasn't prepared for three new members in three days after pretty much hanging out here by myself for a couple of years. It took some new faces to discover my list isn't perfect.

Hahaha, poor Cecrow, new members joining in a clump sending things all in a tizzy! XD

(And dangit I thought I'd fixed everything, I changed the one Poe title but apparently forgot to remove the other!)

That's a weak area for me too, most of which I'm skipping. And when I was tagging them in LT, I discovered many of them are very unpopular here, less than ten copies. Not very encouraging.

Now, I really fall down in this category, as I don't like much modern fiction. I've read other Findley and Spark titles though and liked them. And Coetzee blows me away, but he also makes me skittish.

Yeah, looking at what I have read, I don't like this category.

The Modern Fiction has been an eye opener and really broadened my reading horizons. I've found some good stuff in History and Travel too.

Even with Children's fiction, I'm grateful for The Human Comedy and Swallows and Amazons. I've no idea why Pratchett, Gaarder and Tolkien are in that category, lol.

If it'd been The Hobbit, I could see that, but yeah LotR titles are not for young kids! Hell I know plenty of adults who have tried to read them and thought they were way too much! Lol. I was also confused about Pratchett, but I haven't read them yet so I figured maybe it was even lighter than I thought, but, yeah, given most of the titles there are for quite young, it's def odd some of the choices. >.>
