If you frequent LT and this group please say "HI" and let us know you are here and there is hope for us.

Hi - I read HobNob, but have not posted much (I hope to update the "2017 lists" shortly, sorry for the delay)

HI - but then you knew that anyway as I posted in your last resurrection attempt.

This is encouraging. I remember all the lively discussions we used to have in here, and I miss them.

Hi - It usually takes me 20 minutes to write and rewrite a post that I feel does not adequately articulate what I'm trying to say, and then I delete it in frustration and say nothing at all.

>8 macsbrains:, that's what editing is for! Your first draft is supposed to be rough, you know that. :P
I'm one to talk, I'm obsessively reading and re-reading everything before I "Post message", going back to correct a word or phrase in reviews I posted months ago, etc.

>10 Cecrow: The editing happens constantly, for all the good it does. In school I learned I could scribble a paper in a half hour, off the cuff, while on a crowded bus, or I could spend a 12 hour all-nighter sitting at my computer staring at a blank screen NOT writing my paper with the same results.
It's one of the reasons I'm so fascinated by people who can write, and why they write. It is not a skill I possess, nor have any talent for, that's for sure.
I have re-written this post 3 times.

Macsbrains I think you just haven't found your writers voice yet. I hardly even notice that I'm typing when I write. It's just a step toward getting words on a page. Don't try so hard and don't think about it. Just let your mind speak to the page.

Same. Just spent the last month trying to get myself to write a 300 word abstract and submitted it at the last minute.
Don't understand how people type out so many forum posts a day, let alone books.
(Just almost went to click away instead of clicking post message.
"Should I really be posting in this group if I'm not an author? Does anyone actually care what I have to say? Wasn't the catharsis of typing it out enough, do I really need to be on public display? Etc..")

Ah. I think I see one of the issues with this group, just mentioned by >13 Settings:
Should I really be posting in this group if I'm not an author?
I'd suspect that a lot of people who look at the group title only see Authors but not anything else, so they're reluctant to intrude on the conversations...

#13 You couldn't be more wrong. Yes, you should be posting in here, and welcome. We are not all authors here, but authors, encourage all to contribute, because we care deeply what you have to say. Often reader's comments gives us new ideas or alters our perspective. Someone that primarily writes tends to forget what it was like to read for enjoyment only...sadly.
As to your question about posting and writing, speed comes with time and practice. For me, I type faster than I speak, but then I have a heavy, southern drawl.

I have been away since 2014. Making a new website and joining Goodreads and Twitter as well as promoting my last book. However, I have time to return although I searched for crambo and it seems to have gone. Pity, I enjoyed that.
