Okay, everybody we didn't catchup in May and June will be the last month that we will carry those members who haven't yet started to participate. For those of you that have been reading your ROOTs, keep at it, we will get there, I'm sure. But since we are currently under the sign of the twins, let's redouble our efforts to get back on track.
Below is the current list of members that have identified a ROOT goal for 2018 and how many books they read by the end of May.
The percentage is calculated and a star awarded for those on target to reach their goals. More stars for farther toward their goal.
If anyone's number is incorrect, please let me know and I will make the necessary adjustments.
So go out there and dig those ROOTs.

The goal for June is 2,318 Let's get back on track!!!
If the non-particpating members don't start in June, they will be moved to a separate section and our goal will be reduced from 4,636 to 3,920 and the June goal would be 1,960.

>1 cyderry: Hi Cheli, I don't know if it's just me, but I've just tried to update the group tickers, and although I can get the % ticker as a hyperlink, the number ticker (the first one) isn't providing me with a link to tickerfactory to update it (does that make sense?) - it's just a static picture at the moment. I'll try again later - I've updated my ticker in any case (so it's #1 for June and #35 overall for the year).

My 2nd ROOT for June is The Wind in the Willows. Personal ticker updated. Thank you. :-)

It took me almost 4 months but I finally finished Book of Speculation by Erika Swyler. This was the February selection for the local Barnes & Noble Book Club. I had trouble with it. It moved to slow at the beginning and was just full of old tropes about fortune tellers and librarians, but it had just enough new fresh twists that I kept at it. I think it was mediocre as a novel but I think there are readers out there who will love it.
41Jackie_K
I've added ROOT #5 for June (#39 for the year) to all tickers. It was a really short ER book - always good for the totals!
42lilisin
Finished my third ROOT of June, Han Kang's Human Acts. I was very pleased with this one as I did not like The Vegetarian at all but still could recognize that she was a good writer.
43Familyhistorian
I am three ROOTs in for the month for a total of 38 out of 55. The last one was a good one The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry.
44CurrerBell
Margaret Fuller, Woman in the Nineteenth Century (Norton Critical Editions).
1st for June, 39/75. Not doing that well on ROOTing, though I have had 6 non-ROOTs so far this month. I'll still be keeping my star, but I ought to try picking up a bit on the ROOTs between now and the end of the month.

Apologies if anyone in the last minute saw the % ticker. I inadvertently missed out a digit from the total, and the percentage went from 40.7% to 4.1%! All sorted now, so hopefully I've spared cheli a heart attack!

62LadyoftheLodge
>60 clue:, >59 kac522: I started to read the Miss Read books many years ago, when I got them from a book club. I started with the Fairacre series and worked my way through the Thrush Green books. I am so happy to see they are available as ebooks. I was sorry when Dora Jessie Saint aka Miss Read passed away. As a retired teacher, I love to read about the small village schools, which seem to be a thing of the past. I also like the Gervase Phinn books. If you have not found them, check them out!
63benitastrnad
I finished American Canopy: Trees, Forests, and the Making of a Nation by Eric Rutkow. I discovered this book while browsing the library shelves and checked it out. Didn't read it. Then earlier this year I found it at my local Friends of the Library Used Bookstore and purchased it for $3.00. This was a really good find and worth every penny of the $3.00 to purchase it and read it.

2 more off the shelf on to the stack, Life in Seven Mistakes by Susan Johnson, I Know Why the Caged Bird sings by Maya Angelou. Not sure how that is progress as they just move from one room to another but both great reads. We are soon re-carpeting the entire house and the family is looking at my books thinking oh my goodness how are we going to move Mum's books temporarily?

74HelenBaker
>71 connie53:. Yes painting and wallpapering happening here too. I am contemplating not boxing as we are doing only one half of the house first, because yes boxes of books are heavy. then a new kitchen and the other side...
Another book finished, Lullabies for Little Criminals by Heather O'Neill, but it left me feeling so traumatised I had to take myself to the library for something light and fluffy. It does occur to me that the last three reads were on racism, rape and child abuse and neglect. The library book did the trick, an easy read and one off the wishlist, so a form of progress.

Just sneaking in one more ROOT for June (#8 for the month, #42 overall for the year) and adding to all tickers. Not that that's made much of a dent in my decidedly acquisitive month, but...

>90 Jackie_K: I hear you about the acquisitive month, Jackie. I am looking at this month's pile and hoping it doesn't topple over. There are a lot of skinny books in there too!
I just posted my 7th read which will be it for this month for a total of 42/55.

Reporting two ROOTs for the month, bringing me halfway to my total for the year (15/30). Hurrah!
However, I daren't count the number of acquisitions this month. I think I'm just ahead with the "my ROOT pile will be smaller at the end of the year". But I'm not counting new ROOTs yet ...
Personal ticker updated.

I just wanted to report a few more ROOTs are now under my belt, bringing my total to 35. I updated my ticker but did not touch the group one.
Congrats to all who have or are close to meeting your goals. What fun to see these numbers add up. And once again Cheli, thank you so much for all you put into this group.

A few days ago I finished Margaret Fuller: A New American Life by Megan Marshall, which gives me 3 ROOTs for the month. I think I'll be keeping a star (but just one), reading too many new books this month. I'll have to do a little catch-up next month, but I have some quickie reads I can do for the Reading Through Time group that will also count as ROOTs.

I finished 3 more ROOTs during the past few days. My thread and all tickers updated. Fingers crossed that we reached our goal this month!

I have time now so will enter in the books I read for the June Root.
1. Reasonable Doubts by Gianrico Carofiglio - this one is for the Two Guido's Mystery Challenge here on LT.
2. Book of Speculation by Erika Swyler - this one was for the local Barnes & Noble bookstore book club. It took almost 4 months to get done with it.
3. Gemina by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff- This was my recorded book for the month. It is book 2 in the Illuminae Files series and I am having great fun with this YA Sci/Fi series.
4. American Canopy: Trees, Forests, and the Making of a Nation by Eric Rutkow - This one is for the Non-Fiction Challenge that is hosted by Chatterbox here on LT.
5. Venetian Reckoning by Donna Leon - This one is the July book for the Two Guido's Mystery Challenge hosted by myself and Tymfos here on LT.
There was lots of variety in my June reading and, while it wasn't as many titles as in the previous months, I am satisfied with my totals.
