Carnegie Library archivist and rare book dealer are charged in book thefts

This is awful. And I have actually bought a book from Caliban Books (fortunately, nothing valuable enough to have been stolen).

That article contains a link to a list of the stolen items, which I hadn't seen before, and which classifies each book as "total loss," "diminished value" or "recovered asset." Most were "total loss," which I take it means that the library wasn't able to locate the buyer or reacquire the item from the buyer. Interesting to note, though, that apparently the library was able to recover the Newton Principia, which I think was the most valuable of the stolen items.
