7.) Stardust? Are they reprinting this?!

Redigerat: feb 1, 2019, 4:39 pm

>2 mortalalliance: EP's First 2019 catalog does mention it and their customer service has confirmed it will be reprinted as part of the Signed Modern Classics series later this year possibly as early as March-April.

5.) (ditto) - Hasn't EP already reprinted "Ender's"? I already have a copy...how many times did Card sign his name? Arrrggghhhh!!!

James Michener used to quip that he signed so many books that his unsigned ones were worth more.

>4 iluvbeckett:

EP has reprinted Ender's at least a few times initially as part of Masterpieces of Science Fiction (signed volume), later adding Signed Edition to the spine and a COA. It was on Limited Quantities List and sold out sometime last year, so a new print run may be in the works. One can perhaps hope for a new cover design, but it is highly unlikely considering additional cost :D... After this run EP will still have 3/4 of a tractor trailer full of his signatures anyway ;P. Signed Speaker for the Dead edition or a re-print of Maps in the Mirror anybody :)?

Can anyone tell me how joining the Signed Modern Classics series works exactly? I mean, do they ask which titles you want before the send them? Do they just arrive and you have to send them back if you don't want them?

8treereader
apr 26, 2019, 7:00 pm

>7 swintek:

As with any series, by default, the books will arrive at a rate of one per month, based on what's in inventory at the time, until you say 'uncle', they run out of titles, you complete the series, or some combination thereof. Should you wish to exert more control you can request the current list and modify it, and you can also change the rate of shipment (e.g., every other month or twice a month, etc.)

I just received Ender’s Game and just got billed for Stardust so they’re both out. Looking forward to seeing what Stardust looks like!

https://www.eastonpress.com/prod/B8B/3447/GEORGE-SAUNDERS--Lincoln-in-the-Bardo-... appearing today. EP had a Caravaggio volume listed under what's new, then pulled it inserting this instead. Now EP has pulled 3447 also.

I'm hoping they reprint some of Gaiman's other books. I started collecting him later and only have 3 of his EP editions.

Thank you for the list. While I enjoy Gaiman, he is a bit over-represented at three books in this series. But if they reprint American Gods sometime, I will jump on that.

I just wanted to point out that "The 13th Tale" is also on the Signed Modern Classics list per EP, but they aren't close to shipping it (it's an upcoming title).

lol

>26 saintmelville: thx for the heads up. Just read the reviews on goodreads ... and man!!! ... I have never seen an equal opposing amount of "the movie was so much better" and "the 'ol adage ... the book is better then the movie has never been more true''.

Any opinions here on this title?

>27 mortalalliance:. I have been steadily edging towards Folio for the past (2) years now, and the summer + winter sales help considerably. However, one would have to be independently wealthy to afford either manufacturers, at least to the point of filling several bookshelves.

>28 thisGuy33:. I have seen the movie Forrest Gump (years and years ago), but never read the book. The movie, I thought it O. K., though I would prefer EP list another Jules Verne DLE or a multi-volume large DLE set s.a. the (3) volume Picturesque Europe. Incidentially, the previous Gump volume sold on its last EP site run for 3 installments @33.00USD per installment.

Looks like Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett is coming soon to the MSE collection.

Amanda Palmer posted a video on Twitter of their son drawing all over the tip in sheets for it! (although Neil did later clarify these were scrap copies as they spelt his name incorrectly on them)

The EP site now says that Signed Modern Classics is currently closed to new orders. Is this something that happens from time to time, with the series being reopened at a later date? Or should I take this as it's done, period?

Just noticed it's the same for the Greatest Books Ever Written.

>56 johnbean9:

I doubt it's done. I think that series has done well for them and as long as people read and write, there will be no end of new modern classics available. Other series have come and gone and come again; it often seems to be a website mismanagement issue but it could legitimately be a basic supply chain issue, too. Perhaps the binderies have been shut down long enough from quarantine efforts to great a supply drought.

58Wootle
maj 29, 2020, 5:14 pm

I do think EP is going through some supply issues. The last couple of books I bought have taken close to two weeks to ship, with no expedited options being given at time of purchase. I do know that EP customer service is working from home, so I assume the bindery is short staffed if not altogether shut down for a time. The website is putting several titles on hold for now, so perhaps they are limiting the number of titles available for the time being.

59mortalalliance
maj 29, 2020, 9:37 pm

> 56

Yeah I would bet it has to do with the impact of the COVID-19 closures in the states finally effecting the inventory/supply chain of Easton Press.

Has anyone heard anything new on Neil Gaiman. Some people think a signed version of "Good Omens" was in the works. This was stated back in November.

61sdawson
Redigerat: nov 4, 2023, 11:38 am

Is anyone keeping a list of books in this current incarnation of this series. I am interested. What I really need are links to the individual titles which may be purchased.

"Upcoming Collector's Editions include: Emily St. John Mandel's Station Eleven and Markus Zusak's I Am the Messenger. Availability of each signed volume is limited, so please act quickly!"
