Hi All,

I would appreciate input from other teachers with extensive personal and classroom libraries. How have you organized these using LibraryThing? Do you separate them by into collections or maintain two separate libraries.

Also would appreciate hearing how others manage tracking multiple copies for their classroom libraries.

Thank you so much. I'm a pre-service teacher, wanting to get my ducks in a row before teaching my first year of high school English next fall.

Thanks!

I'm not a teacher, but I think that whether you want separate libraries or just two collections depends in large part on how you plan to use them and who will have access.

If you catalog your classroom library, do you want your students to be able to view it? If so, you probably don't want it combined with your personal library!

Thank you. That's a good point to consider. I don't need my high school students to know my political leanings or the amount and type of erotica I read. :-)

I appreciate your prompt response. To create a separate library I'm thinking I could simply create another account under my academic email address--yes?

Yes, I'm pretty sure that would work.

I am working towards my Elementary Education degree, the books I have cataloged here are for my future classroom library. What I have done is use my Goodreads account to catalog any personal books I want to catalog while keeping this strictly for the books that my future students will have access to.

I don't read erotica but I feel the same for political books or just in general. You never know what could potentially upset a parent either.
