Happy All Saints' Day. There are 61 days left in the year, so what 1001 books are you reading in this final stretch?

I've just started Memory of Fire, Volume 1: Genesis which looks like a perfect subway book -- lots of short snippets.

Trying desperately to finish Pilgrimage.

I just started The Book of Daniel.

I really want to finish The Man without Qualities by the end of the year. I feel like I have been reading it forever, but I am only halfway through.

Just finishing H is for Hawk. Dying to start this month's group read but I have another non-1001 assignment to finish first.

Like always, I have many that I would like to get to! I am currently on the last 100 pages of Americanah. I have found my copy of The Tenant of Wildfell Hall from the shelf. And would also like to reread The Handmaid's Tale before I read The Testaments.

>1 ELiz_M: It is a bit like the countdown to Christmas! My Goodreads profile keeps telling me how many days are left in the year to finish all the reading!

I am just about to start The Cement Garden by Ian McEwan and I am determined to finish reading Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen as I have been reading this by installments for the last six months.

I have spent eternity reading The Count of Monte Cristo. Its's been great, and I'm finally almost done. After this, I'll spend whatever is left of eternity to read Vanity Fair.

>8 MartinBodek: I tend to have a classic and a smaller book going at the same time - just so I can get something finished! I love classics and always have one on the go, but they are not the most rewarding of reads if you like to fill in your Goodreads list of books read!

I thought of you the other day when I was going through some books my Pa left me. There is a collection of Alexandre Dumas (about 25) from the 1920s. They are the most gorgeous books. It will be quite the project to read through them all but it is such a treasure as most of them are not in print.

>9 JayneCM: That's exactly how I live my life: several books at hand while I plow through an interminable one: bathroom, nightstand, living room, workbag. Everywhere.

And *you* thought of *me*? Awww. :-)

Still reading Memory of Fire, Volume 1: Genesis and Anniversaries and, for something quicker, finished Oberland.

I've been in a reading slump for the last couple of weeks, but end of the year panic is creeping in, so after I finish my current non-list book, I'll try Sula I think.

I finished Pilgrimage! And overall I am very glad I read it.

Now I'm reading Mayor of Casterbridge.
