Leslie ROOTs again in 2020

1leslie.98
Redigerat: dec 31, 2019, 5:44 am

I am back with another year of trying to reduce my backlog of books! This goal is of course unattainable since I generally get as many new books during the year as I ROOT out but it is still a worthy struggle *grin*

Although I did make my goal of 100 in 2019 in the end, I am reducing my goal this year to 75. Hopefully, I will still make it to 100 but the stress will be less.

First ROOT of the year finished! The 22nd entry in the Dr. Thorndyke series by R. Austin Freeman, The Penrose Mystery. An average entry in the series which means that it was an entertaining book for me even though the mystery wasn't one of Freeman's more difficult ones.

jan 17, 2020, 1:49 pm

With the completion of a couple more ROOTs, I am now 'ahead'! And some of those ROOTs were pretty old too - one from 2009 - which feels like a greater accomplishment some how.

27leslie.98
jan 31, 2020, 11:33 am

January was a good month of ROOTing for me - 18 ROOTs completed (3 in print). Sadly, I also fell victim to the lure of new books and managed to get 13 of them despite my best efforts to stop accumulating more books. Two of those 13 have been read so in my personal method of accounting, 18 - (13-2) = 7 book decrease in my pile of unread books.

Thanks >64 connie53: and also for the consistency of your stopping by :)

It's nice to know that I am not a 'lone voice in the wilderness' talking to myself! Though these ROOTing threads would still be valuable to me as a record even if I was.

>65 leslie.98: That's what I think too! At the end of each month I copy out my reviews into a monthly blog post, so I have the record for posterity (which reminds me, I need to do that for August), it's really useful.

>65 leslie.98: I try to get to everyone's thread these days and I'm really interested to see what my fellow ROOTers are reading. So I will reach >66 Jackie_K: too sometime this weekend. ;-))
