Thriller - group of friends killed their friend

Hey! I need help to find a book I read around 8 years ago.
It was a Fiction book, I think a Thriller.
I don't remember a lot from the plot - but I remember that the book begins with the end (more correct - with the middle) - Group of friends (maybe 4?5?) killed their good friend, and then the book goes to back to the beginning of the story. The friends were all students in the same Uni.
Not sure: I think that maybe the friends, maybe not all of them, were pretty smart, they might been study ancient Greece\Rome history\language. I think that one of them were a scholar student.
The book might be British but I am not sure about that too.
Sadly, this is all I can remember - but is was really good book.
