I was asked to post a review on amazon but I keep getting

'We apologize but this account has not met the minimum eligibility requirements to write a review. If you would like to learn more about our eligibility requirements, please see our community guidelines.'

So no go...

Asked by whom?

Under the Early Reviewer program, the only place you are expected to post a review (if you want more books of course), is here in LT. If the author/publisher asks you to also post in Amazon, it is just that - a request and not doing it will not influence your selection for further books.

That often happens. Each account must meet an annual purchase minimum and whatever else Amazon requires at the time to post a review.

Fortunately, LibraryThing Early Reviewers and Giveways don't require reviews to be posted on Amazon (or anywhere else) for a member to continue getting books though those programs.

It was a Member Giveaway.

For this book: http://www.librarything.com/work/25610128

Via email: Due to the fact that it is in our agreement to offer the book in exchange for an honest review on Amazon
Also something about a GC drawing...?

I always post my reviews here and on my blog but I had no idea Amazon

Thank you for the reply.

Thanks!
I was shocked that I could not even post a review for something I had purchased.

I was just surprised that a Member Giveaway was asking Via email: Due to the fact that it is in our agreement to offer the book in exchange for an honest review on Amazon

Also something about a GC drawing...?

Nope. It is not part of the agreement for Member Giveaways - regardless of what the author/publisher thinks. You may want to forward that to LT directly so they can explain the rules to whoever sent you that - or just ignore it. If they sent you the mail after they sent you the book and not together with it, they are also misusing your data and I would report them for that - they got your mail strictly for sending you the book you won and not for hassling you and spamming you after that.

Neither ER, nor MG requires a review in Amazon or any other third party site.

As for Amazon - it is another step in their ongoing war with false reviews. Misguided sometimes and failing more often than not but a war nevertheless. :)

This is the eligibility rules for posting reviews per the community pages on Amazon:
Eligibility
To contribute to Customer features (for example, Customer Reviews, Customer Questions, Customer Answers, Idea Lists) or to follow other contributors, you must have spent at least $50 on Amazon.com using a valid credit or debit card in the past 12 months. Promotional discounts don't qualify towards the $50 minimum. You do not need to meet this requirement to read content posted by other contributors, or create or modify Profile pages, Shopping Lists, Wish Lists or Registries.
