My son-in-law watched The Queen's Gambit and like many has a renewed interest in Chess. I am looking either for a book that will help him improve his game or maybe a great book about a chess master.

Karl Marx Plays Chess and other reports on the world's oldest game by Andy Soltis.

The author is an American grandmaster; this is a compilation of his columns written on chess (I think for Chess Life but possibly for other publications). Some analyze specific games, some talk about specific players - it's a variety of chess-related stuff.
