I am cataloguing a series of books- see above stated name.
The first one that I entered was "Daniel" and the series popped right up. I have added two more with same author/ or illustrator and they are not connecting to the series page
but--- the series page is not properly filled in either.
there are only 9 books in this series: Esther, David, Daniel, Jonah, Noah, creation, Saul Joshua, the first Christmas.
here is link to alleged series: https://www.librarything.com/nseries/156607/Bible-Time-Stories
I still cannot figure out to get books to join a series & there doesn't seem to be a way to combine - as was previously explained- because it is not a commonly known series
thank u

On each individual book:
There is a module, usually above Common Knowledge, labeled Series and Work Relationship.
Within this module will be a link that says "Add/Edit"
Clicking on this link will open a light box/pop up box.
In the box you can then search for the proper series, or if there is a work to work relationship you would like to establish.
In the series itself:
On the right hand side, there is a box labeled Edit Series
Click on the box to open the menu
In the menu you'll find a link to "Add to/Organize Series"
Clicking this will take you to a new page with an option to Add Work or Save.
On this page you can rearrange the order, add labels, or Add a work to the series.

There also appears to be a related publisher series to what you're doing:

>3 gilroy: This is the same series. I do not know how chariot books relates. on the cover and cover pages of every book, it says bible times stories series. publisher- David c cook publishing company. a reference to hosanna enterprises inc. and on the back cover they all say chariot books.
I googled chariot books- I don't think it exists anymore- but I don't thing they are publishers. it has been too long to recall whether this was a company from which I may have purchased them in the 1980's. ( I can look it up in my "big book of homeschooling"- later.
yes, same books- but I feel confident that the series ought to be labeled as bible time stories series

>2 gilroy: okay. so, the first button that you mentioned, I am unable to find.
but I went to the second one that you mentioned from the one book that linked up correctly to the series. from there, I was able to link a couple more... and to add some additional titles.
of course this led to more problems. when I tried to add all the titles, it wouldn't let me. it has to be already recognizable in the system. when I tried to add certain titles into my library- it wouldn't let me because it kept trying to make them merge with "David". even though, I clearly typed "the first Christmas". etc
could not seem to find a way to keep those separate- so I just deleted those titles

>5 EGBERTINA: Remember that the system stops checking titles after the colon. So if you are entering the series name in the title, then the actual book name, separated by a colon, the system will think they are all one book. Once manually separated, the system one recombine them without help.

>5 EGBERTINA: Let me give you a picture to show the link on the books themselves.

>9 EGBERTINA: Select main page, and it's in that frame. Note the arrow in the Series and Work Relationships line - it's set to expand in Gilroy's screenshot. If it's not like that, click on that arrow to expand the module.

>10 Maddz: thank you. that seems to have helped some
meanwhile, is there a way to combine two series by the same name? I don't recall how I figured out there were two- but I could only click on one option; but I seem to have books in both. also, I did some separating, but I cannot get an incorrect book removed from the series. its title is -" Into the journey". and it has the same author as JOSHUA from the series- but they are completely different, and I cannot get it removed.
thank u

Hi Egbertina,
I think you're doing something you don't intend to. This work: https://www.librarything.com/work/26609266/editions was created when you separated various editions named "Joshua" from a bunch of other works and combined them together. But looking at that editions list there are many many different books and videos there that should not be combined together.

>12 r.orrison: That's a horrible mess. The way I'd tackle it is to select a specific work with a specific ISBN and separate out the different entries pertaining to that work one at a time.
1 Select the entry you want to separate out; click on the 'x copies separate' link (the blue separate), and confirm you want to separate it
2 Once the two works are separated, you get a screen with two work entries - the original work and the newly separated work. Right click on the newly separated work so it opens in a new tab, and then click on the editions link to the original work.
3 Repeat until you've separated out the various entries pertaining to the work you want to separate out; you'll be left with multiple tabs - the editions for the original work, and multiple tabs for the separated works.
4 Go to each tab with the separated works in turn, click 'recalculate title/author', and once that's done, click 'recalculate cover'. Both links are towards the bottom of the right-hand frame.
5 For each work you're happy with, click on the 'Add to workbench' link in the right-hand frame, closing each tab as you do so until you are left with a single tab with the workbench pop-up open.
6 Click 'combine works' in the pop-up, and you get taken to a screen listing each work with a tick-box. Select the works you want to combine (multiple is fine), and read the warning notices before combining. If you're sure you want to continue, confirm again.
7 Once you've got your combined work, recalculate author/title, and recalculate cover. At this point, you can re-add the new work to the series etc.
A couple of things to note -
Take it slowly and don't bite off more than you can chew,
In the combination screen, if there is an entry with the majority of works (or a work with an author vs one without), that work will form the basis of the combined work,
If the works have equal numbers, the work you select first will form the basis all (other) things being equal.
(Which is annoying, as things like series entries aren't kept if the majority work is one with missing information.)

>13 EGBERTINA: I don't recall combining. I thought I separated
As I said in the other thread, if you click (separate) on many editions so they're listed in the "Editions to separate" box at the top of the page, then click "Separate These Editions" they're separated from their original works and combined together. I think that's what you're doing.
