Trying to giveaway free books, but they want an ISBN and I only have an ASIN.

Per the directions (on the right side of that page) the ISBN field is not required so you can just leave it blank.

(for future reference, questions about Member Giveaways should go in the Member Giveaways group: https://www.librarything.com/ngroups/8850/Member-Giveaways)

Thank you.

ISBN is an internationally recognized way of keeping book records straight. I find it very hard to take books without ISBNs seriously, and wonder whether the author really takes the book seriously.

>4 MarthaJeanne: That's really unnecessary. Authors who have the resources to buy an ISBN for their book before providing copies to reviewers are not inherently better than those who don't. They just asked a question about posting a Member Giveaway, there's no need to insult them.

>4 MarthaJeanne: Any kindle book is without an ISBN, only ASIN

My books are published through KDP, and while you *can* publish e-book only titles without an ISBN, that publishing platform also gives you the option of acquiring one.

If it has an ASIN and not an ISBN, though, it's not only "e-book only", it's "Amazon only", so the author has made a deliberate choice to limit their potential readership. Which is certainly a choice.
