I recently lost my anime virginity to the anime, Air. Previously, I’d only gone to first-base with anime such as Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, and around second-base with a little of Death Note. But after going all the way, I am thrilled to have discovered an entirely magnificent new art form. Now I’m currently I’m watching several anime, including Kanon and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. I am also becoming more immersed in other forms of Japanese art including Japanese manga, music, food, etc. This thread is for anyone interested in Japanese art forms. You’re encouraged to post whatever you wish to discuss related to thread.

I'm reading Peter Carey's Wrong about Japan at the moment, it's pretty interesting in looking at the society that produced Anime and Manga. Of course it's a travel book that involves Peter Carey and his son fumbling through the country, but the fumbling allows you to see how not to fumble with Japanese culture.

The most interesting thing so far is a minute detail written about a clog spike shown in an Anime that enables easier walking in mountain areas, those Japanese don't mess around when it comes to detail in their cartoons, at least the good ones.

Sailor Moon is cool! She is constantly saving the world, but at the same time, handling problems like school and boys. That my friend, is a very difficult job.
