When visiting the Shelburne museum complex, there was a nice library in the Electra Havemeyer Webb Memorial Building. It is supposed to be a recreation of her NY apartment so I would assume it is the family's private collection. I don't know if there are any original works though.

We can only catalogue them if we have a list though.

Unless they stated that these were her books, it is not a safe assumption.
For example, in Disneyland above the Fire Station is "Walt's Apartment". It has a lot of Victorian furniture but it is not the furniture that he and his wife placed there. Those were family property and went to the Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco where they may be seen. I don't know the status of the furniture and books of "Walt's Office" (both the formal and private versions) that are set up at the Walt Disney Studios. Are the books the same as the ones he had or are they books that are representative of what might be seen?
In the same way, these might be the kinds of books that might be in her apartment or may even be the same titles and edition at times. But until you know that they are indeed her books from her apartment, they could be just set dressing.

Also, is the library open to the public when the venue is rented out? If so, it may not be someone's personal library, intact. You (>1 genesisdiem:) could ask them more about it, though?
