So I finally got around to reading this one. It's pretty much the only TP book I had not read up to this point. I was afraid I was getting too old for her (I'm 22) and that this book disappoint me. It didn't and exceeded my expectations. I didn't think I would like Beka or the premise, but I ended up loving both! I think she went a little heavy handed with the dog metaphor and the first person writing seemed a little awkward at times (hey, it's Tammie's first try at first person writing though). Beka is truly awesome and definitely belongs with Alanna, Daine, Kel and Alianne. I was also hoping for a lady knight since this is set 100 years before Alanna which is also when the last lady knight before her lived. I was very excited and happy with Lady Sabine! I hope to see more of her in the next books along with Rosto and Kora and Aniki. I had to squee fangirlishly when I read on Tammie's LJ that she'd finished the first draft of book 2 in the Provost's Dog series. This is my current fixation, and I'm hoping to initiate some discussion. So, I'm hoping for some feedback.

In further fangirling - she's posted the new cover on her LJ now too. I'm so excited for this! I'm just finishing law school, and I still read anything that Tamora Pierce puts out. I love her heroines and her worlds.

I think my favorite part about Terrier was the scene at the very beginning with George as a little boy... I know it's unlikely since Tammy likes to focus on female main characters, but I would so love to read George's story...

I really enjoyed Terrier. I think Beka is an excellent heroine and will go far in her adventures. I love that she is a Lower City gal and lives the right side of the law in an edgy way ;). I can't wait to see what happens with her and Rosto...if anything.
Tammy is freakin' amazing but I do wish she'd try another male hero (ehem Briar=boy). Maybe a growing George...or even one of his sons.
In comparison, I liked Beka better than Aly...what do you all think?

summerbis: I don't know if I can say that...
I love all her tortall characters, it's really hard for me to decide which one I think is the best.
But just because you ask, i would have to say that Aly's my definate fav just because the Trickster pair were the first of Tammy's books I'd read...and I always thought Aly was totally kickass. Beka is absolutely a close second, followed by Kel.

I don't know why, but I've always been a bit disappointed in Alanna for having that relationship with Liam...I never liked him and I could NOT believe she'd chose him over George. I mean come on! George is Kickass!! Is it any wonder why Aly is??? I think not.

I'm uber excited about Bloodhound though...SPRING!!! woot!

Even if Liam had lived I think Alanna would have chose George. She and Liam were too different and had too many complications. It was always meant to be Alanna and George. I think Liam was just a growing/learning experience for Alanna, really.

Can't wait for Bloodhound!!! *howls*

Oh, yes...I believe I'd meant to say chosen...oops.
But yeah.

I'm with you there! It's been far too long since my last Tamora Pierce fix. I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on a copy of Tortall and Other Lands as well!

I know!! I just can't wait!
I feel like, I'd do ANYTHING to read that third book (short of murder or imprisioning dear Ms. Pierce). And the Tortall and Other Lands book too.

I'm currently rereading Terrier. I love it! I think this is my favorite series by her. I just love that she's so badass, and doesn't take crap. And, Goodwin and Tunstall are SO GOOD!
I cannot wait for Mastiff. It couldn't get here soon enough.
