Simple combining tips

Check your spellings! Amazon data import is notoriously flakey, especially for author names and titles. If possible use a library source, otherwise check carefully!

If you are sure the author and title are spelt correctly check the author's page, with at least initials and surname. Are there other authors with the same name / initials on LT. These can be combined from the green sidebar on the authors page - but be careful check that the authors really are the same person. Do not combine surnames only, too many different authors share surnames.

Finally from the authors page goto the combine/seperate link near their list of works. This will display all their works, select the checkbox for the two works you want to combine, click combine and you are done! Again read the information on what is and is not a seperate work first. Please also check the disambiguation notes for each work - many "obvious" combinations are seperate for a reason, stated in the is box.

Any doubts please please consult the combiners first. They are quite friendly and much prefer being asked then having to take the hours (sometimes days) required to fix someones well intentioned mistake.

I notice you have 39 unique books quite a few with reviews! Good for you! It seems sad that you are the only person with "Good Beer Guide 2009".

So, Let me ask you a question. I have Burnham's Celestial Handbook all three volumes. This book seems to have many names. I understand not combining volumes 1, 2 and 3 into one work. But in my library it shows up in the following way:

Burnham's Celestial Handbook, Volume 1, Rev. Edition
Burnham's Celestial Handbook -- An Observer's Guide to the Universe Beyond the Solar System, Volume 2
Burnhams Celestial Handbook Volume 3

Now it just annoys me how different these are. I guess its not a combining issue but how to I "unify" these so I get a listing like this?

Burnham's Celestial Handbook, Volume 1
Burnham's Celestial Handbook, Volume 2
Burnham's Celestial Handbook, Volume 3

I have similar problem with Webb Society Deep-Sky Observer's Handbooks. So your answer would be really helpful.

You can change a title just by going to your library and double-clicking on that title's box. As you move your mouse near the title, you'll see a little "DOUBLE CLICK" appear in the bottom corner of its box to indicate you're in the right place. You can do the same thing in the other boxes to correct the author name or add new tags.

Changing the title only changes how you see it; it doesn't change the title in other people's libraries or the main book details page, and doesn't* uncombine the book or anything odd.

*Except rarely when it does! But that's only when I've been moving the colon around, and it fixes itself when I move it back.

31 unique book! Pretty good. I never knew there so many books about nubibranchs. Please tell me there has to be some zoologist pun with nudibranch as the punch line!

I haven't seen any really good ones yet-- just the usual "I wish my bank would open up a nudi branch!" or calling a group of them a "nudi colony" and so on in that vein. :)

Here I was thinking of something along the lines of "What phylum would have the hairless sphinx cat, the naked mole rat and the Chinese crested dog? The Nudibranch" or "What do you call branch with no leaves. Nudibranch." Feel free to groan.
