Steampunk anime

I know this group is mostly about books, but I'd like to know if there are any fans here of steampunk anime such as Steamboy or Nadia of the Mysterious Seas (aka Secret of Blue Water).

I haven't read those(steamboy), i'm not much of an anime fan but that's mostly because it's so popular (i try to avoid things 'everyone is getting into'). But it sounds like that may be a good place to start, I'll check them out.

Hmm, I was not aware that there was a Steamboy ani-manga. In truth the story was a little confusing but the steampunk technology and visuals were amazing.

Another good anime in the genre is Laputa: The Castle In The Sky.

Nadia is my favorite because it is based (loosely) on Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea but throws in much more adventure and technology.

Steam technology, big airship battles, single-seater airplane couriers, high-tech robot things hunting people, etc. I've only seen one disc so far, but I enjoyed it.

Fullmetal Alchemist

A very popular series that my wife and I enjoyed a lot. More in the vein of magic steampunk than pure technology steampunk.

Magic steampunk (or Magitech) is another favorite of mine. I run a Dungeons & Dragons campaign setting called Crystalis that is in the magitech genre similar to the Final Fantasy series.

The world of "Turn 'A' Gundam" is heavily steampunk-influenced.

Too bad it remains one of the most underrated and overlooked arcs of the Gundam saga.

One of the best anime's I've ever seen & all the better for having nothing to do with giant robots or hacking in any way (not that I don't enjoy those as well). By the time I got to about episode 20 (out of 26, I believe), I basically wanted to put off watching the final episodes as long as I could so that I wouldn't have to be done watching the series. How sad is that?

I was a little frustrated and confused by the very last episode, but overall 5 stars.

"The Big O" is steampunk-ish, although it's more 1940's noir than the pseudo-victorian setting that's usually associated with steampunk.

"The vision of Escaflowne" is an absolute must for any fan of Magic/fantasy Steampunk. (Magical Mechas ftw!)

Also, try Phil & Kaja Fogilos "Girl Genius" at http://www.girlgeniusonline.com/ . While Not anime or manga, it's one of the best steampunk comics around.

I haven't seen all of Steamboy yet but I have the CD of the sound track by Steve Jablonsky which is fabulous!
