What do other people think of this? I've never read the book, although after receiving the movie as a christmas gift from my brother and enjoying it, I think I'll check the book out. At least as a movie, i find it engrossing, haunting, and maybe even a bit disturbing. Honestly, I think Stallone was perfect for the role, alhtough something deep down makes me wish they hadn't made any sequels, 2 was horrible, and while three was good, it turned what was in a lot of ways a thriller into a blow crap up action flick.

If they'd ended the film as Morell ended his book, and no sequels made, the film - and I think Stallone, as well - would be far better critically regarded...just as 'Rocky' would have been generally considered as a classic stand-alone movie, without the tarnish on that best-picture Oscar that numbers 2 through 5 created.

And - as the saying goes - if my grandmother had wheels, she'd be a wagon.

I definitely agree with you on that point wulf. Neither of the sequels live up to the first one, although, I do sort of preffer the ending where Rambo lives, it just gives a sense of hope to a movie that has been so much about hopelessness and despair.
