I mean, we're doing all the chants, going to the woods in the middle of the
night to perform the arcane rituals, all the usual stuff. It just doesn't seem
that we're getting as far over the edge of insanity as we would like to be.

Any helpful tips to increase the dread, or perhaps make things just a wee
bit more unspeakable around the house? Perhaps some of you have some
good crafts or activities that you could share.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Two suggestions:

1) Levitate while chanting "Dead by dawn!"

2) Show them a graph of the national debt over the last year. If they're not scared, remind them who'll end up paying it.

Another piece of advice is not to try to "Keep up with the Joneses." Every family has its own basal level of insanity, and there are good and bad aspects of all levels of dementia.

And if you must compare yourself to the neighbors, consider all elements of their lifestyle. Sure, your neighbors may bark at the moon on a nightly basis, but do they maintain their lawn as well as you do? And how are their kids' GPAs compared to your kids'? Probably, if they spend a lot of their energy excelling in one area, they make sacrifices in other areas.
