I found this cookbook in the library and have cooked several of the soups which are so very good. I have now purchased my own copy. The soups are mainly vegetable, but that's all right since I add what I think would taste good to them as I cook them after first making the soups as directed. The recipes are clear and easy to follow. Anyone else use this book?

I have a couple of his books, although for some reason not that one. I love them though. This Good Food has a great recipe for garlic soup, and one for brussel sprout soup that I still make every summer at some point.

I like his soup book too, but I LOVE his Twelve Months of Monastery Salads. I've had it for a few years and several of the recipes have made it into our regular rotation. His Boston Salad is an unusual (to me,) but delicious combination of boston lettuce, avocado, orange segments, pecans, scallions, mayo, maple syrup, lemon juice, caraway, & horseradish. Also a plus, I agree that his recipes are not complicated and most come together easily for weeknight cooking.

Sorry to take a less favorable position.
I checked this out of the library a few weeks ago but found it not very helpful. It seemed like there were only slight variations from one recipe to another, the kinds of changes that I make almost every time I make soup anyway. If you follow recipes very closely, perhaps it might be useful.
Since I've been making soups for years, this just didn't offer enough new to make the book worthwhile.
