I've introduced my new pup, Miles, on another thread. On second thought, I'm giving him his own thread so you can choose to ignore the two of us. ;)

The blue ball behind him is one of his favorite toys, but the camera is much more fun!

Here he's just relaxing with the camo dog, another favorite toy. I made the cushions in the photo for the library because we recently bought our first house and don't have much furniture yet. Miles and Larry (the cat) have used the cushions more than the humans in the house.

We both love the sunshine! Though he is rather more fond of sticks than I am.

Miles will do anything for food. Here he's demonstrating a lovely, calm sit for the very same food that is in the bowl next to him. Gotta love a puppy's short attention span.

It looks like Miles is a fantasic puppy! and he and Pepper seem to have the same bowls.

Hello Miles honey, such a cutie! Skeelo sends big licks.

welcome, Miles, to the pack. Buckwheat, Nicky, and Greta Garbo are all wiggling their tails mighty fast! A play bow to you and to your humans, too.

p.s. great pictures

Thanks everyone! This group is great because we can gush about our pups and we all understand. :)

Miles gives lots of licks in return and is so ready for a game at the drop of a nylabone, so he wishes all your pups were here!

Mandy, I must say I am amazed that Pepper has the same bowls. It took me 2 shopping trips and 4 stores to choose bowls I liked. I didn't think I was picky, but apparently I am.

We had metal bowls for about a year and a half but they seemed to start rusting, which I thought was really weird. So the hubby went to petco to buy new plastic bowls and that's what he found the color you have in that picture for her food and a green one for her water. We like them a lot better.

More pictures! He has gotten so much taller, though it's probably harder to tell from photos.

Miles stalking the camera

Pretending to be a terrier. He loves to tunnel between our backs and the couch.

Having a rare moment of calm.

I love that second picture! I love it when dogs decided that behind looks like the best place for them.

Miles loves this toy. It was stuffed with kibble at the time. It's flexible and the bottom has an X-shaped hole that lets small bits fall out of the hollow center.

He paused to wink at the camera.

Miles is adorable, lefty! I love that he's winking at the camera. He's growing fast. I remember when my younger dogs were puppies. But that was 6 years ago!

I was excavating shrubs and Miles came out to do his part.

Here we're learning "shake."

He does have the loveliest floppy ears, doesn't he? They look very nearly as soft as Skeelo's and he is well-known (around these parts anyway) for having the softest ears in the world. And I bet they smell gorgeous too - aaaaaah, puppy ears . . . . . .

17lefty33

Here is an updated picture of Miles. He's gotten so much bigger, especially when looking back at his earliest pictures. But his ears are still huge and silky and his energy has not abated in the slightest!

oh lefty, I had to go back to this post, msg one just to look at him little again. Such a big boy here, sitting so nice & proper. Don't you love a puppy in a big dog though...they are many laughs. Miles is such a cutie.

OH MY! he is getting to be a big boy!! I just want to play all day with those ears!!

Booksloth, have you posted pictures of Skeelo anywhere? I can't think of what he looks like so either I've forgotten or I've never seen him.

Miles is definitely still all puppy! But he is funnier that way. We are enjoying his craziness. And I do play with his ears a lot. :)

Like everyone else here I love Miles' ears -- but I also love his paws (specially the front ones). I love "future big dogs" when they are still gangly puppies, but you take one look at their feet and know just how big they're going to grow!!

23lefty33
aug 27, 2009, 12:46 pm

Thanks, Booksloth! The picture of Skeelo half asleep on the couch is so great. I love a sleepy pup.

Valerie, I love his paws too. He is definitely still growing into them!

Booksloth, what a beaut! That had been a dormant page, so glad you sent the link to see Skeelo....how beautiful he is.

Lefty, has miles went for his "procedure" yet?

25Booksloth
aug 31, 2009, 6:18 am

Thank you BONS and lefty. He is indeed beautiful. Miles is at that lovely gangly stage, isn't he? He looks like he's got a lot of growing still to do. I'm sure you've told us before but I've forgotten - what make of dog is he?

26lefty33
aug 31, 2009, 5:32 pm

Bons, yes Miles got cut and it didn't phase him a bit. He came home hyper after being in the hospital for 26 hours. I was sure he'd rip a stitch. But it's been a little while now and he's healing nicely. Thankfully no ripped stitches and he didn't bother the area at all either.

Booksloth, Miles seems more gangly every day! He is a Pointer -- half German, half English, but all Pointer. He has a lot of energy but he's my running buddy so he's learning to channel it properly. I can't imagine him without the running gig!

Miles update!

Here he is modeling the sweater I made him. I'm not really into dog clothes, but Miles is a VERY shorthaired German Shorthair and gets cold quickly. I knitted it with wool so it is quite cozy. He actually seems to like it too! I like this particular sweater because it's more like a horse blanket, less like I'm dressing up my dog.

We went camping last weekend and brought Miles along. He had a GREAT time! And he was so well-behaved too, but that may have been because he was exhausted from playing and running around so much.

Jumping in the bushes. I assume it smelled of rabbits, squirrels, and/or chipmunks. He flushed a chipmunk out of a fallen log but was too busy sniffing to notice the critter run off, thankfully.

He tried to nap, but there was so much going on it was hard to sleep and possibly miss out on something! He has slept A LOT since getting back home.

so big and still growing

It is so much fun watching our dog children having a fun-ole time! This week I saw a little mouse in my garden trying to hide under some ground covering heather...I grabbed Greta Garbo and tried to point her at the mouse as it began to creep away. She trotted off to bark at the cat who was outside the fence. Jeeeze!

He really is looking lovely! I also hate dog clothes for fashion purposes (though, who hasn't put their husband's shirt on the dog at some time or another? I know I have) but that jumper looks great and very practical. Back in the day when we had bearded collies there were quite a few owners who used to save the groomed-out hair to spin and knit with - the results were absolutley stifling! I wonder what he'd think of that - a dog hair jumper for a dog?

He's getting so big and handsome!

32lefty33

I would have to save Miles' hair for years to have enough to do anything with but I don't think I am particularly interested in spinning his hair anyway. It seems somehow a little strange to me. I'll just keep buying wool. ;)

These pictures are a bit blurred because he was running like crazy but they're still fun.

33Booksloth

Yeah, I thought it was a little weird too. Imagine doing it with your own hair.

Thanks lefty - I'd been hoping to get a Miles update soon. He really has grown so much in just a few short months. The area where you were camping looks fabulous, too - so nice and green!

I taught Miles a new trick that I call "pose" as in pose for the camera. He's getting really good at it now and hardly ever needs the hand or voice prompt. Just the word is usually enough now. So I decided to put it to use this morning and it worked!

36kirbyowns
okt 16, 2009, 2:14 pm

He's just absolutely adorable. Let's see... he could be saying:

"Are you going to take the picture?"
"Really? You're going to wear that?"
"You're not going to leave without me, are you?"

37BONS

Lefty, "pose" is a great trick!

This pic just shows he is still that little round, floppy eared boy inside. cute, cute

Kirby, those are all applicable! Probably the last one especially. He loves going everywhere.

My sister Megan was here over the weekend and she is a photographer (amongst other things). She was taking pictures of fudge but took some pictures of Miles too while she was here. Her pictures are much better than the ones I take. They are here if you'd like to look. He looks very sophisticated and intelligent, if I do say so myself. Except for a couple when he is being total puppy. :)

Your sister had to enjoy Miles as her subject. What a character. Those little head tilts makes me want to kneel and throw my arms around his neck! Lovely photos.

I'll take one Miles and 3 pieces of the chocolate nut fudge, please!

I was really impressed by her pictures. Especially the ones when he is moving because my moving-Miles pictures come out as a white blur.

Val, I love that one too!

Bons, lol -- I'm sure Miles would love to go play with Ben!
