I just started the Immortals Series, and I love it! I thought I'd start a message board about Daine, (and Numair)!

I read them years ago and loved them, though the Alanna series still remains my all time favourite. :)

I liked Daine a lot, though I second the Alanna favorite. I both missed the palace and was glad this wasn't set there.

I loved Numair, but the romance between the two kind of took me by surprise, especially because of the age difference. It weirded me out a little (though I got over it - they're so great for each other).

My favorite part will always be Zek - because he, unlike the other People, knows about KEYS!!

I found Daine kind of annoying in the early books. Or maybe it was the writing about her - ok, we get it that people were awful to her, you don't have to keep talking about it over and over again!

I think it's one of those situations that should be "show, don't tell", which Pierce isn't the best ever at - one of the flaws in her writing is that she tends to tell stuff like that, instead of show, so it sometimes gets to the hit-you-over-the-head point.

I like Daine better in her later books and in her appearances in Protector of the Small.

I agree with bluesalamanders, I liked Daine more in the books that weren't focused on her. I think it's because I like stories about people more than stories about animals.

I think that out of all of the Daine stories, Emperor Mage is probably my favorite. I think that Daine really starts to emerge as more of a relateable character. She is not just a girl who is plagued by problems of her past anymore - she is truly coming into her magic and becoming an integral part of the Tortallan government. She becomes such a huge asset to Jonathan and Thayet that I can't help but love it.
