Wow, can't believe no one has started this thread till now. Just finished reading Nerve Center: Inside the White House Situation Room by Michael K. Bohn. Interesting reading from a historic point of view and also as insight as to how this iconic but rather little understood part of the executive branch really works. Not a tell-all book or an exposé, it still does muckrake a bit, but nothing Kitty Kelly would appreciate.

Wow, that is something. How can nobody have started the December thread until almost Christmas?!

I'm mostly done reading Dearest Friend, and I finished The Day Wall Street Exploded a week or so into the month.

>2 AnnaClaire: I see over on Amazon a mix of reviews for The Day Wall Street Exploded. One review even referred to it as a novel. Your opinion?

Read Mayflower by Nathaniel Philbrick earlier this month. About half way through Undaunted Courage.

Not a novel -- certainly it read less like one than, say, Gangs of New York -- but I'd say it would be readable for those accustomed to novels.
