Hi!
I´m really into Indian authors these days. I´m currently reading "A suitable boy" by Vikram Seth - and I´m enjoying it a lot.

Definitely R.K Narayan. Just finished Dark Room which isn't touted as one of his best but I thought it was perfect.
I love Swami and Friends.

Yep R.K.Narayan is my favorite too especially Swami & Friends. Another great author I like would be Salman Rushdie. Loved Midnight's Children.

One that I like a lot is Shashi Tharoor - less well known than some but I think his books are very good.

I read The Last Song of Dusk by Siddharth Dhanvant Shanghvi which I loved. My favourite Indian author is Salman Rushdie. Others favourites are Vikram Chandra, Shona Ramaya and Gita Mehta.
Also recently I was impressed by Quarantine: Stories by Rahul Mehta. I'm not sure he was born in India. This collection of stories explores the experiences of young gay Indian men in the USA.
