- The inaugural Blue Ridge Book and Author Literary Showcase is scheduled for Saturday, May 9, in the magnificent new Technical Education and Development Center on the Blue Ridge Community College campus in Flat Rock. Distinguished author and Henderson County native son Robert Morgan will be the honorary chairman, Sharyn McCrumb—acclaimed author of the "Appalachian Ballad" novels—will be the keynote speaker. Louise Bailey, esteemed historian and narrator of western North Carolina origins and folkways, will be honored for her many literary contributions. The program includes diverse segments of interest to the reading public, students and aspiring writers.
