One of the last chained libraries in Britain. The library is open for sightseers (might be worth checking before you travel), and researchers can access the books by application to the cathedral. The website seems to be broken at the moment, but you can go on a virtual tour here: http://www.sphericalimages.com/hereford_cathedral_virtual_tour/
The library includes one of the surviving copies of the Magna Carta, and the Hereford Mappa Mundi.
