The passage of more than ninety years and the publication of hundreds of books in dozens of languages has not extinguished an enduring interest in the mysteries surrounding the 1918 execution of the last Russian Tsar Nicholas II and his family. The Resurrection of the Romanovs draws on a wealth of new information from previously unpublished materials and unexplored sources to probe the most enduring Romanov mystery of all: the fate of the Tsar's youngest daughter, Anastasia, whose remains were not buried with those of her family, and her identification with Anna Anderson, the woman who claimed to be the missing Grand Duchess. Refuting long-accepted evidence in the Anderson case, The Resurrection of the Romanovs finally explodes the greatest royal mystery of the twentieth-century.… (mer)

I have long been interested in the Romanovs and the mystery of Anastasia and Anna Anderson. This book was absolutely wonderful at introducing the dreadful fate of the Romanov family, the history of Anna Anderson, and the answer to the question everyone has been asking for years: 'Was she Anastasia and if not, then who?" Once again, Greg King does a great job of weaving an incredible story with all of the necessary facts. What a great book! ( )

I would have rated this higher, it's not for the book itself, it's very detailed and well researched, it's just that I bogged down a bit, as you know Anna Anderson isn't Anastasia, some people who knew Anastasia thought she was, some didn't, some vacillated, I kept thinking if only there had been DNA testing at the time this whole story would be moot. She surfaced such a short time after the murders I can't quite believe anyone who knew Anastasia could have thought it was her unless it was just powerful wishful thinking. I probably would have read this more carefully if it hadn't been a library book, maybe I'll try again some time. ( )

Finally! It took me like forever to read this book, but I am finally done.
I have always believed no one can hold a lie for too long, but after reading this book I realize it's possible. I was taken aback because the author early on tells you Anna Anderson was an impostor, but nevertheless I kept on reading. I wish Anna Anderson - minus her perculiarities - would have been Anastasia.
This is an amazing work of research, if not a work of art. The epilogue although sad and cruel, the ending of the Romanov's indeed.
The human being is capable of so many things.

Many writers of history produce dry, difficult-to-read works that only fellow academics can really appreciate. Not so with King and Wilson. They've produced, at least with this book, a thorough yet engaging look at Anastasia and the woman known as Anna Anderson. ( )

This book is a fantastic resource for anyone interested in one of the greatest mysteries of all time. Greg King and Penny Wilson do a wonderful job filling in the backstory of the infamous Anna Anderson.

The book is extremely easy to read. It fascinates, shocks, and reveals much about the woman purporting to be the Grand Duchess Anastasia. King and Wilson have done their homework and are to be commended for a job well done!

Excellent! ( )
