Eggday

Summary: This book is about animals that talk. A duck tells a pig, a horse, and a goat that tomorrow is egg day and they have to bring their best eggs. Unfortunately, mammals don’t lay eggs so a hen brings them eggs to make them look like a pig, a horse, and a goat. Once they show the duck their eggs she changes her mind and says its duckling day because her egg has hatched.

Personal Reaction: I liked this book because it teaches kids about the animals such as, baby horses are meres and baby goats are called billy goats. Also, that mammals don’t hatch eggs.

Classroom Extension Ideas:
1. In the classroom, the children decorate boiled eggs and teach them to be gentle with them like babies.
2. In the classroom, I could teach the kids more about the animals in the book.

This book was very good and has a very good pattern for emerging readers. It is silly and fun. I think children would be entertained. ( )

Summary;
Eggday is the story of 5 barn animals who all live on the same farm. Dora, the duck, tells all the animals that tomorrow is egg day. All the mammals wonder where they are going to find an egg. Their friend Hetty, the hen, lends them eggs for them to take to egg day. All the mammals decorate their eggs to match themselves.

Personal Reaction;
This was the cutest animal farm story. It was very creative and imaginative. I would of loved this book as a little girl.

Classroom Extension Ideas;
1. I would provide boiled eggs for my classroom. I would then have the class decorate an egg as their favorite farm animal.

2. This would be a great book to use as an introduction for animal science. I would have a class discussion over mammals, birds, etc. after reading this book. ( )

Summary: Dora the Duck said to Pogson the pig, tomorrow is eggday! What is eggday asked the pig? Best egg contest is the basic comment from dora, wanting to participate the animals from around the farm all want to know what eggday is and what htye can bring. she tells all of them to bring their best egg, such as the pig to bring a pig egg, horse to bring a horse-egg, etc.Hen later advises them the cannot lay an egg as they were told where eggs came from.
Personal Reaction: Cute story , liked the different animals involvement in the storyline, shows all the animals working together to try and find out where to geet an egg.
Extension: teach about each animal and how they are born, as the story unfolds and hen telss them about how each one has their offspring teach a lesson on that. have students color an egg like the animals did and have our own eggday contest.

This book by Joyce Dunbar was a great book with talking animals in it.This story is very cute it is about a duck, horse, pig, goat and a hen. The duck tells the animals that tomorrow is egg day! So the goat horse and duck all say they must lay an egg since tomorrow is egg day! So one later that day they all try to lay an egg but when a hen stumbles upon these animals moaning the hen laughs and explains to them you cant lay eggs! So the hen said I will give you some of my eggs after they explained but the duck had told them. So when they day came thy all had a cute egg that had some features that looked like each animal. There was only one problem the duck was no where to be found! When they finally found her at her home she told they she didnt want to be in the egg contest anymore because now she at the prettiest duckling. The animals all agreed.
This was a great book wih beautiful pictures and would be a great book for the classroom because of the talking animals and also learning about these animals and what there babies are called.
