The writing is a little precious in places ("Let's pretend - doesn't that sound delightful - let's pretend that some one of you is the Capitol guide..."), but for the most part is is straightforward and informative. The book - more of a thick pamphlet really - goes from the front door to the top room of the tower, explaining all the carvings, mosaics, paintings and symbolism of the Nebraska Capitol building. Many pictures, black and white sadly, illustrate the narrative. We can't expect anything else in 1932, I guess. The really unfortunate aspect is the lack of pictures concerning the Senate Chamber. Granted, Nebraska is a Unicameral and we don't use the Senate Chamber anymore, but the room is stunning artistically and should not have been shortchanged. But the treatment is otherwise very thorough and interesting. ( ) inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
