The commonality is really that wonderful quirky British humor. Pratchett is an old favorite of mine and I have read every one of his books. Howard is my new favorite and I plan to read every one of his books. If you like one, odds are you'll totally enjoy the other...… (mer)
Zaklog: Although American, not British, Christopher Moore has a very similar sense of humor to Pratchett's. And if you like a story about an unsuspecting, innocent (and often clumsy) man accidentally becoming the Grim Reaper, you'll probably like Moore's book as well. Another wonderful characteristic the two authors share is their ability to combine a bizarre sense of humor with very serious moral subjects.

Med Mort är Pratchett äntligen uppe i helt fullgod form: döden är precis som man förväntar sig honom, även med lärling och dotter att ta hand om och kanske sedan lite ledighet. Ej heller finns här en massa moster och elände att bekämpa för Mort, utan bara en verklighet som vill tillbaks till planen efter det att han valde att inte döda en vacker prinsessa (är man typ 16 och hemifrån första gången så må man vara förlåten). Det finns till och med fotnötter också!
Historien har redan börjat skisseras ovan: Döden tar den väldigt tonårige Mort som lärling, och denne får efter ett tag eget ansvar, varpå han misslyckas med att göra sitt jobb med en prinsessa som därför fortlever, trots en verklighet som insisterar på att hon borde vara död. Samtidigt börjar Döden själv tycka att det här med en alternativ karriär verkar rätt lockande. Samtidigt får Mort en del vinkar och blinkningar när han är tillsammans med Dödens dotter (adopterad) Ysabel.
Rensvind och Biblotekarien dyker förresten också upp.
En bra bok, den första i serien där formen sitter där den skall. ( )
