It is standalone as such but the book is set in the same world as Immortal Danger. The characters from Immortal Danger, Adam and Maya appear in this one. There doesn't seem to be any reason not to read this one first but for those of us that prefer continuity I would start with Immortal Danger. This was good. Cynthia Eden never really goes wrong - she always writes funny, steamy reads with interesting plots and this was no exception. It's not perfect but it's pretty good. The world building was intriguing and I liked the idea of Charmers (people who have an affinity for animal shifters and can influence them and hear their thoughts in animal form). I liked Lucas and Sarah was alright. The romance between them was good and was slower than I expected it to be. Sarah was a bit too secretive - I wished she would've just told him from the start what was going on. I liked the rest of the characters - Piers, Dane and Jordan - although I think Piers was my favourite. I'd love to read about him and Josette. The action was fast paced and the plot was enjoyable - even if it was a bit predictable in places. A well written paranormal romantic suspense read. 4 stars. Fairly decent shifter read. It had some problems for me though. I think the world building was lacking some clarity. I have never read any books in this series so I was a little lost. There was so much going on that I kind of had whiplash wondering what was happening and why. The heroine had too many secrets that I never got a good grasp on her character. Basically the same held for the hero. At least this wasn't one of those shifter stories that depends only on mated sex but I could have used a bit more relationship development. So, decent. I read the whole thing but I'm not convinced I need to read any more in the series. I'm a fan girl, which means I hoard Cynthia's book. She's not the only author I hoard. (Yes, my name is Jordan and I am a book hoarder.) Anyway, This book was Cynthia at her gritty and romantic best. The hero has never known love in his life and the heroine hasn't met a lie she hasn't liked. It was a perfect combo, especially once you tossed Voodoo into the mix. LOVED IT!!! Never Cry Wolf 4 Stars Lucas Simone is the powerful alpha of the Los Angeles werewolf pack, but someone views him as a threat and an obstacle to be removed. Sarah King has important information for Lucas and is in desperate need of his help and protection. Nevertheless, Sarah may have bitten off more than she can chew by choosing to side with a man whose beast is very close to the surface… Series Note: Never Cry Wolf is the final book in Cynthia Eden’s Night Watch series and takes place in a different city and with different characters than books #1-3. Nevertheless, it is a continuation of the prequel Immortal Danger, which I recommend reading as there are numerous references to prior characters and events from that story. I did not read the prequel first and felt that it would have provided a more satisfying reading experience if I had. Despite one or two intriguing twists, the plot is quite straightforward with Sarah arriving to warn Lucas of a foe from his past with plans on usurping him as Alpha. The action scenes are exciting and romance is intense and steamy. Lucas is a typical alpha, protective and possessive, but his disturbing past gives him an extra edge in the hero department. Sarah is an appealing although her tendency toward keeping secrets puts a damper on things and there are times when Lucas’s calm acceptance of her lies is inconsistent with his reputation for dealing harshly with threats to the pack. The secondary characters are very compelling, especially Piers and Caleb. Unfortunately, Eden seems to have taken a break from the series so their stories are on hold at least for now. All in all, Eden certainly knows how to write a paranormal romance and I would definitely read more in the series if she wrote them. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension

HTML: Running With A Dangerous Crowd Lucas Simone is not the kind of guy you mess with. He's big, he's strong, and his eyes hint at a wilder side most women can't handle. Of course, that's because his predatory instincts are no metaphor-he's a genuine Grade-A top-quality werewolf, tough enough to fight his way to dominance over the scariest pack on the West Coast. There's only one chink in his armor. Unlike most alpha dogs, Lucas has a reputation for protecting the weak and innocent. Sarah King is counting on that protective impulse-it's the only thing standing between her and certain death. There are only two problems: one, she's not quite as innocent as she'd like Lucas to believe. And two, if he doesn't stop stoking Sarah's animal lust, it's only a matter of time before her own wild side gets unleashed... "A fast-paced, sexy thrill ride you won't want to miss...It hooked me from the first page." -Christine Feehan on Eternal Hunter "A wickedly unique voice in paranormal romance!" -Larissa Ione .Inga biblioteksbeskrivningar kunde hittas. |
