This book has two stories in it. One story on each side of the book. The story Lunch Capades is about school children who complain about their lunch food, and wanting to try something different. So the next day they are served several options of very distasteful combination's of lunch food. After realizing their ordinary everyday lunch is not so bad after all, they are severed a delicious lunch. They learned that different is not always better. The story Backpack Attack is about backpacks that come to life after receiving a jolt of lightening. The racket the book bags make in the middle of the night causes everyone to wake up and catch the backpacks in action. When the flagpole is hit by lightening, they suddenly lose life and go back to being ordinary backpacks.

This is a cute book that would appeal to children. They story Lunch Capades would be a great book to read to teach children the importance of being thankful for what we have and not complain. Backpack Attack is a silly story that children seem to enjoy. It would also be a great story to read aloud while studying a weather unit.

To incorporate this book into the classroom, I would keep this book on hand and have students who complain frequently read it. I would then have them tell me what they learned from the book and how they have realized that they do not have it so bad! After all, it could always be worse!
